Way to go TJ! I heard it was a 2-hitter. I hated to have to miss it, but I had to go to the Legion game instead. Somebody on here predicted you'd throw in this series and have a significant impact! :woohoo: Keep it up - can't wait to watch you throw Legion games this summer!

Hickory KOs Trojans in the 6th
NWC answers the bell in the 7th only to come up short

HICKORY HIGH - After whittling NWC's 5-0 lead down to 5-3, the Red Tornadoes strike for 5 unearned runs in the 6th inning courtesy of catcher Tyler Propst's 2-run triple to tie the game and Isaac Harrow's 3-run blast off of Blake Ketner who had just come in to relieve Nick Daniels to make it 8-5. NW Cabarrus cut the lead to 8-6 in the 7th and left the bases loaded when reliever Justin Dixon induced a ground-out by Ryan Wildrick to end the game. Hickory starter Greg Baker got the win.

Baker settled down nicely after giving up a run scoring single to Jerrod Faggart in the first and a grand slam to Blake Ketner in the 3rd to put NWC up 5-0. With 2 outs in the bottom of the 3rd, Hickory looked dead-in-the-water until outfielders Bret Honeycutt and Jake Faggart lost a routine fly in the sun; this seemed to wake up the Red Tornadoes who answered with 2 more 2-out base hits (the big one, a 2-run triple by Derek Boliek) and tagged Nick Daniels with 2 undeserved earned runs.

After cutting the score to 5-3 in the 5th on a single by Boliek (another 2-out base hit), Hickory again made the Trojans pay for an error that extended the inning (a throw by Kyle Seager sailed high and pulled Ketner off the bag) and scored 5 runs on 3 two-out base hits.

The Trojans kind of did themselves in tonight but you have to credit Hickory with for coming up with 8 clutch 2-out base hits and committing only 1 error in the 7th.

NEXT UP: GAME 2 at NWC, the "big guns", Blake Ketner vs. Ben Gibbs

Hickory overcomes an early NW Cabarrus 5-0 lead to win 8-6. Tyler Propst tripled and drove home 2 Hickory runs with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game. With Propst at third, NW Cabarrus chose to intentionally walk Wil Boyd to get to Isaac Harrow. Harrow drove Ketner's second pitch over the center field fence for a three run home run and a 8-5 Hickory lead. NW Cabarrus scored 1 run in the top of the 7th but left the bases loaded.

Blake Ketner's grand slam in the third staked NW Cabarrus to an early 5-0 lead.

Hickory now leads the series 1-0. Hickory improves to 24-5 and NW Cabarrus falls to 22-7. Game 2 is scheduled for 7:00 pm tomorrow at NW Cabarrus.

Hats off to South Meck. They played very well in the two game series. Good luck to them next week in the State Championship and bring one home for the Western part ofthe state.

Congrats to the West Forsyth Titans in their great season. They did alot of things that no-one expected them to do. The seniors will be missed but with a great group of young players look for the Titans again in the future.

Thanks Titans for representing the CPC and great coached team with alot of class. Good luck next year.
