    Kannapolis-14 over Mooresville-8

WOW, it wasn't pretty, but someone who loves offense would've loved tonight's game. With college pitchers Blake Ketner (6-0) and Garrett Sherrill (5-1) leading Ktown in the 1st 2 games, all we've heard the past couple weeks was how much trouble we were in after we get past those 2 pitchers. Ktown proved tonight that once we must go to our 3rd pitcher,,, guess what the other team does too, and this team continues to score runs at an average of 11/game and continues to build on a Kannapolis team record of now 48 season homeruns, a stat which I hope continues to grow. Jerod Faggart hit his Kannapolis individual record 12th homerun tonight, Ryan Query added his 8th, and Kyle Seager hit his 6th of the season to lead Post 501 in its win tonight.

Kannapolis (22-5) sweeps the series against Mooresville 3-0 and now awaits the winner of the Rowan County/Mocksville series. The 2nd round series will begin Friday July 7 with the Rowan/Mocksville survivor coming to Ktown for what should be a great series for the fans.

Congratulations guys, but this is just one step...:bananalam

Another thriller. Lexington scored one to pull this one out in the bottom of the ninth. Josh Bush hit a ground ball up the middle that just barely bounced off the diving shortstop's glove for the game winning RBI. South still leads the series 2-1 as they head to China Grove for tonight's Game 4. Game 1 starter Zach White will get the ball for Lexington tonight on short rest. Not sure who South Rowan will start, since I doubt big Rudy Brown can come back on short rest after throwing a complete game and striking out 18 in Game 1.

TJ, your opinion: Do you think that the overall quality of pitching in the League is up or down this year?? Lexington is pushing 40 bombs right now, which has to be close to a Post 8 record. Do you think hitters are that much better this season??

Uk7Dook3, honestly here in Ktown we actually still have some players leftover from our 2003-2004 back to back Area championship teams, plus we made the 2nd round last year without 4 great hitters who chose the showcase route and now those 4 have returned. So experience-wise and offensively, we are simply a better team from last year. Of course for us returning Garrett and Blake pitching-wise was huge.

As for the entire league, I've been saying all summer (as you have too) that the top 4 teams in our division are all simply better this year and they have separated themselves from most other teams. You guys finished 2nd in the state last year and other than losing a few key players, I've heard a lot of folks say they thought you guys were actually better than last year. Rowan was great last year and they returned everyone plus Wade Moore, and Stanly County just hit the jackpot with all the Stanly County boys joining forces for once. Any other year, any one of these 4 teams would've simply dominated the league,,,,, except all 4 of us chose the same year to have good years. All 4 have what it takes, great hitting, pitching and defense and I won't be surprised as to which one of us goes the furthest.

Honestly, the rest of the league is probably the same as in years past, but our top 4 teams this year are special. You asked,,,, so thats my 2 cents.

    Ruth. Co. over Gaston Braves

Ruth. Co won 6-5 over the Gaston Braves last night in 12 inn. in Forest City.

    W-Hardin
    L-Yow (3-1)

Leading hitters: Todd Palmer, Aaron Horne, Derek Yow.

Gaston had two players thrown out in Justin Moore and Josh Frazier.

This has been an emotional heated series so far so the ump's have had very quick triggers.

    Game 3 tonight at SPHS.

    Eastern Randolph 12

Eastern Randolph sweeps the series and will play Kernersville starting Friday night at Eastern Randolph at 7...both are coming off of sweeps and they split this year during he season Kernersville won at home 18-7 and Eastern Randolph won at home 21-11, so if you like offense this will probably be an offensive series, but now that i've said that there probably won't be that many runs scored
