I have seen this done a couple of time the last few weeks and wanted to see how you guys interpret this rule

Team A - has a DH hitting for the Leftfielder, during the game the Leftfielder runs for the DH after the DH had reached base. Next time at bat coach has the original DH hit again in his original position, then in the bottom of the inning the Leftfielder again takes his spot in LF.

Coach says he has ten starters and they all get to reenter one time. I thought once you put the defensive player into the game offensively (ie running for the DH) that you no longer have a DH and the DH cannot reenter the game.

What is your opinion on this - I saw two sets of umpires allow it as described above.

to my knowledge the LF may run for the DH (the DH is now burned) the LF is now entered officially into that spot in the batting order

...the DH may re-enter into that same spot in the batting order... and either 1) he may enter the field (not the original LF) or 2) another player may enter the game in the field (into the spot in the order) but neither the original DH nor the original LF may go back into the game

    No violation of the rule

This is correct as per the FED rules...all 10 starters can reenter once.

Strechy, but in above situation, isnt the leftfielder reentering twice, he starts the game, then pinch runs for the dh, the dh then reenters for him to hit, then he goes back in the game defensively

    Seems confusing but legal......

When he pinch ran for the DH that killed the DH but he is still in his original role of a starting player....then when the old DH reentered the LF now left the game for the first time and still has the opportunity to come back in the game one time.

That's correct... few coaches realize that they can really play some games with a DH in high school. Especially if they are in a situation and the DH is slow or whatever... The original post is correct, they may do this.

When the DH reentered he is not considered a dh any more correct? He is now a offensive/defensive player right?

All starters are allowed to re-enter one time at any position in any manner, the only restriction is that they must stay in the same spot in the batting order.

this may be the way high school umps have decided to interpret this rule, but I cant believe this is the rules intent. Once you kill the DH, I would think you only have nine starters that can reenter. As long as you have a proper DH you have ten starters, but once he is gone, how can 10 players still reenter - no sense to me
