    CrowHopping reply to Shrapnel

Crow Hopping is taught to outfielders to get more on their throws. It allows the body momentum to be going toward their throwing object. It should only be done on, what I consider, really long outfield throws since the crowhop, although helpful, does require more time, and time is not the friend of the defensive player. I also allow crow hopping for 1 legged black birds, but not infielders. LOL :thud: :cartman:

i dont like a crow hop ... especially the ones when the play is in the air 3 feet off the ground .. :imagestor

well.. it does take alot of time....if ya have the time to take a crow hop you must have had the time to set yourself up to be going towards the ball on the catch .. therefore you already have momentum going with your throw...

but what do i know.. i was a pitcher and infielder..

    Crow Hopping

:agreed: I agree with the Intimidator Coach, if the outfielder has momentum already established coming in on the ball and catching it over his throwing shoulder, crow hopping just wastes time. I think a crow hop has to be used to establish momentum. About infielders doing it, I can,t think of any reason for it unless he is a cut off man that has to go real deep and is trying to establish momentum for a play at home. But again if he is turning as the ball gets to him, he has already established forward momemtum.

Just so you know, Shrapnel has no interest in crow hopping. One time each year he will post on the preps sites and his post is always "What is crow hopping"....but having said that, you guys made some very good replies.

It is a stupid sport developed by those that can't play hop-scotch.
