After picking up his first collegiate win out of the pen against Delaware State, Ryan was awarded with the Sunday starting spot at Georgia, ranked #8 nationally. In my opinion, the only thing more impressive than Foley Field was Basham's performance under the elevated circumstances.

As if the pressure of the situation was not tense enough, Ryan proceded to back up the lead-off hitter with one to the head area. He pitched out of a couple jams and around only 3 walks in his 6 innings. He allowed 1 run scattering 7 hits. Unfortunately, he got the tough-luck loss but he showed a lot of poise and character. He kept an impressive Bulldog lineup off balance and avoided the middle of some big bats. Other than a couple innings in game one, Elon put forth a good showing against a probable CWS team.

What an opportunity as a freshman, to be a weekend starter at Georgia. Next weekend, at Auburn. A hard-earned and well-deserved opportunity.

    Good job Basham.

I put a spiel over on the "Next Level" about his performance, but you are right Caroliner ... it belongs here too.

6 Innings of 1 Run ball in your very first start is outstanding !!!!!!!

So far this very young season, that's 14 innings of work allowing just 10 hits and 1 run at the college level. An ERA of 0.53 will take you a long way down the road ...

    GREAT JOB RYAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why Ryan is such a great pitcher and competitor...the kid has no fear!!! There is not a school in the country that Ryan couldn't pitch for.
