Ryan Mayhew (2011 RHP) has verbally committed to attend UNC-Wilmington. Ryan is a member of the 2011 North Canes 16U WWBA National Champions. Ryan is a junior at West Forsyth High School in Clemmons, NC.

Mayhew was a 1st Team All-Conference selection this past year as a sophomore in the tough 4A Central Piedmont Conference. Mayhew was also selected to represent Region 5 at the 2009 State Games of NC. Region 5 would go on to win the bronze medal. During the National Championship run at East Cobb, Mayhew posted a 2 - 0 record to help the Canes bring home the title.

Congratulations to Ryan and his family.

Congratulations Ryan. I have heard many nice things about you from Coach Pope. I hope I get an opportunity to see you play this year.

I wish you all the success at UNCW. The coaching staff there is considered one of the best in this state.

Congrats Ryan. The SeaHawks are getting very good baseball player and super young man. I am always so proud and glad to hear when a player that we know and have played against is getting the opportunity to play ball and continue their education in college. Congrats again to Ryan and the entire Mayhew Family.

Ryan is very excited about attending UNCW and playing baseball. UNCW has always been at the top of his list and it helps that they have an outstanding coaching staff.

I want to thank the entire Canes organization for their support this past summer. Jeff Petty, Mike Myers and Doug Collins are a class act. There is a reason why the Canes were able to win a WWBA National Championship after only 3 years in existence. This group does not play favorites and they show the players the respect they deserve. The experience that Ryan gained during the National Championship run and the ring he brought home can never be taken away.

I want to thank Coach Randy Pope. Coach Pope had the confidence in Ryan to put him in some very tough situations this past year as a sophomore at West Forsyth. I believe Coach Pope's confidence in using Ryan in those tough situations helped him grow as a pitcher.

Thanks again to everyone and best of luck.

    Les and Ryan Mayhew

    Congrats Ryan

It has been a great pleasure watching Ryan grow at West Forsyth. He is a old fashion grinder when it come to his mound presence. He does not get phased in anyway and he pounds the zone. He is going to a fantastic place in UNCW and we wish him all the best.
