Man, what a great Saturday night. For those that have never been to Kannapolis Intimidator Stadium, there is not a more family-friendly environment, as far as baseball. The atmosphere is much better than Knights Castle and all the seats make you feel you are on the field.

Dbacks blocked off a section of seats for everybody that wanted to attend, so I gathered a misfit group of kids and descended to Kannapolis to watch Ryan Morris pitch. We got there early so my delinquents would have a chance to check out the stadium, but more important to them…to check out the babes.

After exceeding my credit limit on my American Express card (I didn’t know you had a limit), we found some seats in Dbacks’ section. They happened to be on the “front row”, right behind Ryan’s dugout to give my kids a chance to give Ryan some helpful advice, when needed (Throw strikes) and to the umpire (Hey…you are missing a good game). In the 2nd inning, a huge dark spot formed over our seats. I looked up and whatever it was, it was blocking out the sun. As the temperature dropped from the solar eclipse, a voice appeared and it said, “You are in my seats”.

I said, ‘You’re kiddin’, right? Nobody is sitting in their assigned seats.” But the Solar Blob insisted these were his seats and we needed to move. My first thought was why would somebody come to the game so late that they would miss the 1st two innings, but after finally seeing the human eclipse, I figured it took him two innings to walk down the steps. So after gathering up the troops, we found a place in front of Dbacks.

Wow…Dbacks had a date and he out-punted his coverage. She was very pleasant looking, but I felt sorry for him. Ryan pitched an outstanding game. He pitched 5 innings of 3 hit ball and gave up only 1 earned run. The victory upped Ryan’s record to 7-2 on the season. But Dback’s didn’t get to watch much of it. He spent the night explaining what an RBI is; that 4 balls means the batter gets to take 1st base and after 3 outs the team gets to come in and bat. He had to explain the pitcher in pro baseball rarely gets to hit, unless he is in the ML and plays for a National League team. This last explanation lasted through 5 innings, so I had to tell Dbacks how well Ryan was doing.

The whole night was perfect. The weather cooperated, Ryan pitched great and got the win, and the fireworks were a bonus. In fact, Ryan is a hero to my kids because they believe since he won the game that was the reason for the fireworks.

I want to thank Dbacks for the night. It could not have been any better. I just hope, for Dback’s sake, that the next time he attends a game that he doesn’t have to explain a “balk”. He may miss the fireworks.

From what I understand, she will be taking him to an opera where he will have plenty of time to continue her education about baseball and she can review with him how to create fireworks.:woman2:

Hey Braves.....do you have any idea how hard it was for me to find a date.....so what if I had to explain the game play by play....it was all worth it in the end. My son pitched well and got the win.:mushy:

Seriously, I appreciate everyone that came out to watch Ryan....he really appreciated the fan support.
