i would have scored it a hit
to me a fc implies a play somewhere else, not necessarily an out somewhere else
only a sacrifice if a runner advances

unless of course scorers dd is pitcher and is working on a no-no lol

    Nice work law1ng2b2.... :applause:

Personally, I score these as hits only by process of elimination. It's not a SAC and not really a fielder's choice. This is not done for stat padding because I'll score it the same way for an opposing team as well...

    Its a hit

Had this happen to me four or five years ago as the scorekeeper. I didnt know how to score it. but put it down as a hit (by elimination). I forget where I found the rule but it is a hit and if the runner scores its a hit with an RBI. Another thought is that you cannot charge a mental error which not attempting to get an out (assuming there was a chance at one.) is.
    Great question

As a coach I just take each situation individually. If in my judgement there was no chance to get the runner at first and the ball is held I think its a hit. If there is a chance to get the runner at first but the ball is just held or the fielder may fake a throw to first trying to draw the runner away from 3rd trying to score on the throw to first then I think its a fielders choice. Just my thoughts.
