Sad news

    Joel Hastings (50) who was the EC director for Burke County Public Schools passed away yesterday in Charlotte after suffering a severe brain injury while playing in a church leauge softball game Thursday Night. He collided with another player causing injuries to his frontal lobe and also his brain stem. The doctors could not relieve the pressure or control the bleeding. Hastings has three children, Adam, who teaches at Providence Day in Charlotte, Anna, who is a rising senior at the University of South Carolina at Spartanburg, and Matt, who is a rising senior at East Burke High School.

    Please keep the Hastings familiy in your thoughts and prayers and be careful on the softball field.
