    Don't know if anyone remembers Doris Sams or not but she was quite a player. My aunt use to play with her in Knoxville and I can remember her playing for mens teams after the pro womans league folded. I remember her pitching a game overhanded against a very good mens American Legion team and she pitched a perfect game.:D She had to be at least 45 when she done it.

    Unless she has died in the last 4 or 5 years then she is still alive. My aunt told me that the balls they use were rubbercoated back then and a bit bigger than a cotton seed baseball. She said that the men teams they beat always referred to them as softballs. My aunt is sending me some pics. I'll put them up when I get them.
