Talking about NC connections, I just noticed this. Many of the coaches all know each other as a player or coach; with Coach Pait serving as the forefather.

Coach Wise- Morganton, played for and coached with Frank Pait
Coach Shoe- Lake Norman, played against and coached against Coach Pait at Pfeiffer
Coach Spencer- Fort Mill, fellow alumnus with Coach Pait at Wingate and each were All American at Wingate.
Coach Brown, Asheville, played against Coach Pait at Mars Hill

Although this wasn't intended and there may be other coaches that are connected, but over half of the coaches in the league know each other very well, personally and professionally. That is very unusual for a summer league...and makes for a great rivalry (friendly) between them. I know they all respect each other immensely.

But there is an obvious connection to all this and that is Coach Frank Pait. So it's my belief that all these young coaches need to take it easy on the ol' man....and quit beating Statesville.

One RHP left the team, non injury.

Tyler Tewell (C) sprained an ankle on 6/17, missed a week, tried to tape it up and play. Now has a ligament strain and is in a boot for two weeks.

Eric Heiligenstadt (LHP) has pitched well all year and went down with a throwing arm injury Friday. Do not want to speculate, but it doesn't look good.

Alex Tomasovich has a wrist injury, unsure about his future.

Brian Paulhus (C) injured the elbow on his throwing arm Friday. Hopefully, he'll be back soon.

On a sidenote, Josh Powell and Scott Glover did an excellent job behind the plate this past weekend and Brock McCallister looked good at SS.

you caught me! I thought my member name was a good disguise!!!
Thank you for the congrata but we haven't done anything yet. The guys have been fortunate to win the games they have won. I think a key element to summer ball is to have guys who play well together i am very lucky to have a group of players that are enjoying summer baseball, each other and the SCBL. The play of all the teams in the league have been conmetitve It seems anybody could catch fire in the second half hopefully we continue to pitch tilt as well as we have been.

As for the Owls I feel there is a little rivalry there with Not only coach Pait but president Brian Suarez who i have known for a long time. Not to mention Tripper Crisson who plays infield and played at CVCC and was also my bat boy in high school, and LHP Tyler Fletcher from my school USC Sumter.

This has been a very fun summer I hope we continue to play well and I'll post on here every now and again

    When you are winning 80%...

....it's hard to keep a low profile.

(throwing 7 shutout innings w/just 59 pitches makes for a fun evening... with that cool mountain air breezing down Long Shoals Road)

    SCBL AllStar Game

I would like to congratulate all of the SCBL Allstar selections. I know the Aggies had 9 picks and a case could have been made for a couple more. But how in the world does Will James, a starter for the Statesville Owls, with the 3rd lowest ERA in the league get left out?
Kid had a great college season and has picked up in the SCBL where he left off in the spring.
    It's a shame.

I agree...kid has been outstanding. And if you gave out an All Star for a parent it would be his Mom. She lives all the way in G-Vegas, yet she does not miss a game---HS, College or summer baseball.

    And another thing....

I have seen all the Aggie home games and I have to say, Justin Johnson has been outstanding. Kid has pitched, played first, outfield, 3rd base, where ever he has been needed. And he is Jeter-like clutch, whether its a big hit, big pitch, big throw or big play, Justin has been right in the middle of it all. He is the type of player that makes those around him better (another Jeter-like similarity)
Should have been an All Star. Kid can play on my team anytime.

Justin, it has been a pleasure watching you this year!

    Pioneers get above .500

New team to the league, the Pineville Pioneers, move above .500 for the first time this year and into second place in the East with a win over Morganton last night.

This team has banded together, overcome a ton of injuries and keeps battling. Tough schedule this week with games on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday plus the All Star game on Wednesday.

Been fun to watch this group play in front of great crowds and great fans supporting them.
