    Oh Captain My Captain

Hard to nominate Justin Johnson for an All-Star Spot when he had a family vacation the date of the All-Star break. He certainly has been strong lately would have been nice to have him the last 4 games. You will see him on the mound this weekend for certain.

I also feel we had more than the four All-Star pitchers that we had selected. Nobody knows about Bradley Carpenter a submarine RHP who will be going to Montreat who has been very big for us against right handed hitters.

Jeremy Knab from Francis-Marion a LHP who has been terrific out of the bullpen. Didn't get a lot of innings at Francis-Marion after having TJ. But always seems to get huge outs for us.

Before the past two games Jared Carroll who had a rough night to night was leading the team I think in ERA and Chris Perry who has had the worst luck with Point Streak his numbers aren't properly reflected, but he had a tough game against Pineville and could have been an All-Star as well.

Brandon Miller a LHP from Lander who everyone on the team feels has the best stuff would be an All-Star had we been able to vote after he shut down Statesville on Saturday. He might be a pitcher I am most proud of because he has had a tough road back to being successful from being SC player of the year and being at South Carolina losing his scholarship fighting tommy john, fighting some minor control problems. Now he is dominating a wooden bat league.

YEP. Hard to make the All Star team from the beach. I wasn't being critical. I just thought based on his performances I have witnessed he is a gamer. No doubt there are several more Aggies that could have been all stars as well but everyone can't make it.

SCBL All-Star game Sunday 2pm at Winthrop, July 17th

Did all the pre-game events happen as scheduled prior to the gully-washer on Wednesday? I heard there were 15 or so MLB scouts attending.

So... if a scout was interested in some quality SCBL action...they could attend the Ft. Mill Stingers vs. Morgantion Aggies double header on Saturday (5pm and 7pm) at Ft. Mill and see the All-star game on Sunday @ winthrop in Rock Hill....without too much travel inconvenience.

    STATESVILLE OWLS ANNOUNCER

I have really enjoyed following the teams in the SCBL this summer. It has been wonderful being able to listen to the games on the internet. My son plays for the Pineville Pioneers but my favorite announcer is Craig Morrow with the Statesville Owls. He is very entertaining and although he very much wants his Owls to win he is so positive about all of the players on the field. Thanks Craig for the great job you do!!!

He really does...and the townfolk from Statesville love him. He certainly has a following. And you are right on both counts: He is a homer--rightfully so---but supports the play of all players, regardless of team.

For those of you that read the board and have/had sons playing in the SCBL...isn't great to be able to see your sons play vs having to travel to East Bugtussel, Canada one weekend to watch?

That's one of the things that is so great about the league:

    - Close to home for NC players
    - Very competitive games
    - Rivalries are being built
    - Players get time off to enjoy themselves
    - Season ends early so players can still have a summer with family

All of these things are important to the league and I hope the families realize the extent the league goes to understand the importance of family, summertime and being together.

    Thank you TBR

Thank you TBR for your support of the SCBL. Thank you everyone who posted and helped bring more and more interest to the league. It was exciting to see the respect the outside baseball community gives this league. I hope it has the same competition year in and year out. Ill be checking in next summer to see how everyone is doing.
