Boy, y'all have really taught me ALOT on this thread....would love for all the athletes....my dd especially...to read these. I feel for the situation, but homeruns have been hit about taking on responsibility as a student athlete. Think about it, how many kids in college in NC become major league players making big bucks! They ALL need the degree! The most important thing IS the education, period. We as parents know what grades our kids are getting...(well I guess I should speak for myself) but do we know what goes on in conditioning, weight lifting, hitting, etc? We don't know if they have attitudes, are lazy, disagree with coaches, bad mouth team mates. You say you talked to coaches....have you tried talking to HIS coach? or the AD?

Believe me, I feel for you!! Maybe he'll work hard on grades and get back on track by walking on and then getting money the following year. I hope all works out for him!

Here's the problem for the Spring sports. The athlete's are on partial scholarships. If they are to make up any grades they must do so in the summer. Guess what? There is no money given during the summer, so they are on their own. Unlike football and basketball where their summer education is paid for.
