Ragsdale rolls to their third consecutive conference shutout beating arch rival SW Guilford on the road 35-0. Another outstanding job by the defense. Probably held yet another team to under 100 yards total offense. SWG never really threatened. They had a first down in the third around the twenty after a long interception return and had one decent run in the fourth that got them inside the 30 but went backwards from there.

The offense wasn’t spectacular tonight but got the job done when they needed to. Kicking game (Redfern with booming kickoffs and punts once again) and the defense gave the offense good field position all night.) First score came on a Luke Heavner one yard sneak but it was D’onovan Smith that did most of the work. Smith would get plenty of yards and two scores in the first half from 6 and 2 yards out. Ragsdale’s last score of the half came after Heavner found Desean Anderson for a 20 yard completion then Anderson ran in from the six for a 28-0 half time lead.

Southwest defense played much better in the second half forcing Ragsdale to punt several times and later picked off Heavner in the end zone (receiver slipped) and ran it back about 70 yards but the Ragsdale D made sure they got nothing for the effort. Ragsdale got their last score after a nice punt return by Chris Armwood gave them a short field and reserve Barry Brown got the call getting the 15 yards in three carries, the last a 1 yard TD run.

SWG offense threatened once late in the fourth but the defense held on a Chris Bailey-Burke interception.

Ragsdale now 8-0, 3-0 with NW Guilford coming to Jamestown next week. The only bad news for Ragsdale tonight was losing outstanding wide receiver Luke Sonricker to a broken arm in the first quarter. Sonricker was having a great season and made a nice one two punch with Desean Anderson. Hopefully Luke will be back during the playoffs if he heals up in time.

unofficial stats I have had Heavner 8-18 for 84 yards and the interception. He also had a TD run.

Desean Anderson had four catches for 40 yards and three carries for 39 yards and a TD. D'onovan Smith had another big game with 155 yards on 27 carries and two TDs. backup Barry Brown did a nice job with 46 yards in six carries and a TD.

High Point paper said the defense held SWG to three first downs. I think East Forsyth had only four last week.

    Domination.

CRAZY game in Taylorsville last night!....superb effort by Hickory to maintain their composure after going down 21-0 after about 6-7 mins into the game....another GREAT crowd in the stands....AC fans need to get off their seats and on their feet when crucial plays in the game are taking place though...anyone heard what was going on with Bradshaw?....he "limped" off after a kick return and never returned to the game did he?....

Hey not only great crowd there but I would venture to say that 75% at least of the visitor side was filled with AC fans. I was prolly the bravest I guess because there was a guy that got literally ticked off with me. I was cheering and he said I was offending people and I was on the visitor side and I said oh I know and went right back to cheering lol. He got up and walked off. When you arrived at the game before hand.. we got there around 6:20.. GREAT Atmosphere.. Felt like a college atmosphere!

    GREAT JOB COUGAR FANS!!

Lets fill up the hills and whole stadium like that all the time.. Lets have our fans get loud when the D is out there not just on 3rd and 4th downs late in the game.. What do ya say?!
