EB 42 SOUTH CALDWELL 13

This game started out as a slug fest much like the old Northwestern 4A conference was used to. East Burke went ahead 7-0 after South turned it over on their first possession. East Burke then went ahead 13-0 after South failed to do anything once again. With 8 min left in the 2nd South mounted their best drive of the game. South drove down to the 2 yard line with 14 secs left and on 4th down, showed a flash of the 85 Bears with William Perry & put lineman #74 in as full back and handed him the ball. He crashed in for the score to make it 13-7 at halftime. The 3rd quarter erupted with one of the craziest plays ever. EB ran the option right.. QB kept the ball running down sideline.. BUT WAIT!! The line judge on EB side thought the fullback had the ball and was tackled. No worries though for the Cavs as they score on that possession as well as many more points in the qtr, ending with 22 in the 3rd to make it 35-13 after the 3rd. The 4th was filled with subs getting chances to play. The stat most people want to take a look at with this game is how many yards Debro had (#8) for EB.

Another side note, in the 2nd qtr.. it appeared to be South's main back #24 looked to have an ugly injury. He never returned, but he came out at the start of 2nd half on crutches. I don't know whether it was due to his leg or foot feeling better or just him wanting to tough it out for his team, he laid the crutches aside and hobbled on the sideline for rest of the game.


East burke fans, the 2A class may be a blessing in disguise. You guys still have a great team that can run with many different weapons. So don't pout about being half the size as before.. Think of it as being able to compete with some of the best programs in the state because there is quite alot of great football that takes place in the 2A class.

Amen! Too cool! They'll have to play better than they did last night going forward, though. Conference play starts next week and it's a tough schedule.
