Two outs and runner on first. Batter hits ground ball in hole between first and second for obvious hit. Ball hits runner. What is score for batter?

    Hit

According to NCAA rules, and other groups, and as I interpret it, this is still counted as a base hit. Seems to be the same in baseball, rule 10.05. This is link to the NCAA rules. Look on the first page under "Scoring Terms- Base Hit".

    http://fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/Stats_Manuals/Softball/softball easy print stats manual.pdf

You can also google the situation, but it seems that it is a hit, regardless if the scorer feels the batter runner would have been out on the play.

Seems odd to score a hit, since the batter did not "protect" the runner . . .

Dead ball... runner is out, switch sides...
Batter is credited with hit, dead ball interference out credited to either 1b or 2b,
    official scorers decision..

Actually, ASA does NOT score a base hit; it is a fielder's choice. ASA 11-3.D.

It depends, if the scorer believes the b-r would have reached first safely had there been no interference then base hit. If the scorer believes the b-r would have been put out at first then fielder's choice. (14.7.1.5)

    Hope this helps

WindMillR is correct for the original post.

I was replying to currylib who said "You can also google the situation, but it seems that it is a hit, regardless if the scorer feels the batter runner would have been out on the play". I didn't want anyone to think that a runner getting hit with a batted ball before it passed a fielder other then then pitcher, and no other infielder had a chance to play on the ball is always scored a hit in NCAA.

In NCAA 14.7.1.5 if the scorer believes the b-r would have been put out at first had the runner not interfered with the batted ball, then score it a fielder's choice.
