    Southwestern 4A

Any predictions on the upcoming season in the SW4A? The past couple of years this has been one of the most competitive, toughest conferences in the state. The conference championship has often come down to the last few games of the season and playoff spots aren't guaranteed until after the conference tournament. So with all of this excitement the past few years how do you all think it will unfold this year? Who are the studs from each school? any D1 prospects?

My aren't we all courageous tackling this topic!

It would be easier to say who can't win it. Asheville, Raliegh, Wilmington, Atlanta........:D

    I'll wait a little bit before giving a truly honest ( ahem..unbiased ) opinion of SW4A teams.

But I would like to make one comment:

Impact Baseball has ranked South Mecklenburg #3 in their 4A polls....I'm not sure what Andy Partin has been drinking in Eastern NC or if he listens too much to Prepster, but #3?...Wow..Go Sabres!!!

Rankings at the beginning mean absolutely nothing at all. Do not get excited; only the final polls matter. Personally, I do not see how Providence cannot be favored to win the SW4A with all the kids they're returning. But I'm sure it will be an exciting year.

So do yall think pitching and defense will dominate most of the games or hitting? Personally with all of the pitching coming back I say that pitching will dominate hands down. There could be a whole lot of 3-2 or 1-0 games between contenders (basically everyone but garinger and olympic) this year. Any input?

Nostradamus not to show any type of favortism, (because I'm sure they will prove me wrong) but you may want to watch out for Olympic. I'm not saying that they will be any kind of power house in the conferance but with around 5 or 6 starting seniors coming back this year they may be able to sneak a few more wins in there and possibly finish a game or two over .500. Also you may want to check some of the score sheets from last season, they lost some very close games to the leagues best in the 6th and 7th innings. But if nothing else I suspect them to at least show up and give some good teams a run for their money. And finally not to tip anyones hand but I understand it that they have some very good talent that has transfered in from neihboring schools. So all I'm saying is dont count them out yet.
