    Oops......but I hadn't heard that he wasn't coming out.

As far as Kennedy and Lingerfelt as pitchers..I dunno. I was told by a strong source that DJ will start the year on JV's. They would like to find a place for Kennedy, but no room and as far as him pitching, I believe you will see DJ before Zac move up in that role.

The coaching staff loves Cable and will give him a chance to compete and as you know, Bagwell is not afraid to start a sophomore. The catcher's position is not nailed down so the competition will be healthy.

The history at South Meck shows that everyone needs to be prepared, especially the JV players. You can go from starting JV's to starting Varsity in one game ( remember Riney )...if anyone in the infield gets hurt, there are strong talented players ready to back them up. They just need to stay ready!

I believe I mentioned Pesta and Erickson, but David Oliver is a big question mark. The kid is an athlete with speed and arm. The coaching staff is interested in seeing what he can do.

Austin Henderson is another situation. They would like to get his bat in the lineup, but won't see much position play. And he will be competing for at bats with Clayton Erickson and at times, Brett Robinson when and if he DH's.

Who's playing for Big I this year? I'm assuming Bonnell, Holt, Farry, and Rocket will be there, who else?

Glad to see another Meca8 fan on board fatman..... You obviously follow Indy.... Who do they have good on the horizon... What kind of pitching and hitting will we see this year?

Indy has been a good team for years...They were one of the SW4A leaders year after year until coming to the Meca 8. Do they have a strong feeder system pumping players out to them still?

"the big I" I assume your are speaking of Independence. I heard they are supposed to be pretty good, but they are lacking pitching right now. Hey does anyone that follows them know of Trey Starnes that plays over there? That kid is gonna be a stud in a year or two.

Hopewell is pretty set....just copy last year's roster (since they had no seniors). They were thin on both varsity & JV last year but they have a strong freshmen class joining them this year. They look to be set for a strong run at both levels (Varsity & JV).

North is wide open. Not sure who is going out, how many returning players are coming back, who's been working and there is a ton of young talent there. It depends on how many of their young pitchers make a sucessful leap to varsity. Almost all of their mound experience graduated last year. There are about 5 candidates for the starting rotation (all classes), which should narrow down to a 2-3 man rotation with 2-3 relievers. The Freshmen & Sophomores are loaded with pitching talent with 8 Sophomores and at least 2 good freshmen (including 3 lefties). Some of the Sophs should be on varsity, giving the JV staff a chance to get some innings.

I don't think I could go 6 players deep in a roster before I would make a mistake on who's on it and as for positions????? Nope. Don't even want to try.

Well, the best thing you can say is they are more experienced. They have some talent on their team led by Carl Krimminger, All Conference pitcher, David Desilva and Brad Rhine. I am not sure if Tony Hampton is going out this year.

They had hoped for a few transfers to help them out this year, but it didn't pan out.

The cupboards bare and I hope the three players mentioned keep their heads up this year because with Carl pitching they have a chance to beat some good teams...if they will catch it.

I don't look for them to improve as a team this year unless they get some help from the JV's, but the players play hard and they don't quit...and there is something to be said for that!

    Hey Sabrefan

I see you listed 18 players being on the Varsity at South (projected).... Do you feel like that's a normal number of players, a little low...a little high.

I think we are planning to keep 16.
