    Ashbrook at Myers Park HS

Ashbrook traveled to Myers Park for a scrimmage game today.

The first 5 innings were played relatively well, although Ashbrook did have some defensive miscues in the infield that allowed Myers Park extra bases.

Myers Park highlights thru 5 innings:

    Pitching:
    Jordan Cudney SP, 3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 3 K, 2 BB
    Jordan Harris RP, 2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 K, 1 BB

    Hitting:
Nate Cudney HR, SACF, BB, 2 RBI, R
Scott Matthews 1B, HBP, SB, SACB, R
    Jack Myers 1B, 2 SB, R
    Jordan Cudney 1B, SB, R

    Score thru 5 innings:
    Myers Park 5
    Ashbrook 0

    Score thru 7 innings:
    Myers Park 6
    Ashbrook 5

Both teams substituted freely and played many freshman and sophomores as the game went on. I think they played through 9 innings but I didn't stay for the extra innings as it was getting very cold after the sun went down (and I didn't bring proper coat!).

The Ashbrook pitchers actually threw quite well but the defense didn't make some of the plays.

The best hit of the day was a homerun by Nate Cudney (MPHS sophomore) over the right field fence (off the starting Ashbrook pitcher).

I apologize that I don't have more details regarding specific Ashbrook player's names.

They should have moved tomorrow's weather to today due to a baseball game.

    AC REYNOLDS @ EAST RUTHERFORD

AC and ER got in 11 innings tonight before the rain came, a good workout for both teams. AC live up to the "hype". They have a strong and deep staff, and good defense, particularly in the outfield. They will be in the 4A chase for the long run. ER didn't hit well tonight, although still missing a couple of key starters. Both teams should be successful this year in their classes.

    Stat Highlights :
    HITTING - AC Reynolds
John Hinson 2-4, HR, 3 RBI
    Seth Hines 1-4, 2B, R
    Cameron Duckworth 1-4, 2B, RBI
    Blaine Howell 1-4, R
    Slagle 2B
    # 10 2-3, R, SB

    HITTING - East Rutherford
    Michael Melton - 2-4, R
    Michael Milam - 1-4, RBI
    Blake Bostic - 1-3, 2B, RBI
    Zeke Blanton 1-4

    PITCHING - AC REYNOLDS

    Blaine Howell - 3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 4 K, 0 BB (87-90)
    Sam Runion - 2 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 3 K, 0 BB (88-91)
    Kyle Paeplow - 2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 K, 0 BB

    PITCHING - EAST RUTHERFORD
    Blake Bostic - 3 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 4 K, 0 BB
    Tyler Smith - 3 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 4 K, 1 BB
    Michael Melton - 2 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 2 K, 0 BB
    Cullen Park - 2 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 2 K, 2 BB

Also, a kid named Andrew Jefers made a couple of nice grabs in CF.
My apoligies if any AC kids names are misspelled or left out.

East Rutherford opens Monday against 3A North Gaston at home.

my compliments to zippy06 on NCPreps - I believe he is a player for Ragsdale but not sure which one.

"Ragsdale won their scrimmage today (Tuesday) over North Forstyh. the score after the first 7 innings, was 3-2. They continued to play afterwards and Ragsdale tacked on 4-5 more runs. Jason Wallace hit a two run homer to take the lead in the bottom of the seventh. it was pitchers duel and a great game."

I saw them still playing last night and wish I had stopped now.

I may try and make the Ragsdale/NW Guilford/Kannapolis scrimmage on Saturday.

East Chapel Hill at Green Hope

Green Hope scored 6 runs in the 1st inning en route to a 19 -1 win over East Chapel Hill. Green Hope pitchers (Chris Kott, Cory Tilton, Russ McCall, Michael Gyoerkoe, Daniel Bensley, Eric Brady) were very effective, striking out 12 and allowing only 2 walks, 5 hits, and 1 unearned run over 7 innings... Green Hope also had 14 hits (David Shambley 3/4) and 5 stolen bases, while the defense committed only one error...

East Chapel Hill’s Cam Schulz had 2 solid hits and scored ECH’s only run. Rob Gilliam started and went 2 innings for ECH, allowing 5 hits, striking out 2, walking 2, and allowing 7 runs (3 earned). Numerous wild pitches, passed balls, and 5 infield errors haunted ECH throughout the game.
