Whiteville Wolfpack vs E Wake and Richmond

Whiteville beats 4A East Wake 6 - 0 and falls in the 2nd game to 4A Richmond Senior High 3-2. Even in loss bats and arms looked good all day.

    East Meck; Parkwood; NW Cabarrus

Over at East Meck's Field of Dreams it was a great day for baseball--mother nature co-operated,the field was beautiful, the burgers and dogs were 'mmm good, and the crowds looked like bears coming out of hibernation ready for springtime. Best of all we were all there watching BASEBALL again! Nothing like that first call each year to "Play Ball!"

Nobody was happier, of course, than the boys. Bunch of kids in a candy store. In the games:
EM 4 Parkwood 2 (typical EM pitcher's duel with Lou Trosch/Ben Leach and closer, sophomore pitcher Ian Ashworth stymieing Parkwood)
NW 13 Parkwood 6 (NW jumped all over Parkwood early, but the boys from Union County came back strong, hitting first HR of year at The Field of Dreams in the 5th)
EM 16 NW 9 (that's right EM put up 16 runs; after EM led 9-1 after 3 behind starter Olen Little both coaches went to their benches and the game got a little sloppy but a lot exciting)

Great time was had by everyone present. HS baseball is finally here! :cheers2:

    Mallard Creek vs Concord

Mallard Creek defeated Concord 19-0. Mavericks looked good for 1st time out, Bats were live, defense solid and Pitching looked pretty sharp. Mavs have potential to make a little noise this year.

    Weddington/ Providence/ A L Brown scrimmage

Providence and Weddington started off well. Weddington Frosh Shellhorn proved to be a nice addition with one HR and another off the center field wall. Weddington was leading 7-4 in a good game. Then some fielding errors on both sides lead to a high run total.
    Weddington 20 Providence 14
Shellhorn 1 HR and Boone 1 HR (grand slam) for Weddington
Providence also had a HR, not sure of the player.

AL Brown v Weddington- This game was played pretty well by both sides. I left before it was over, but I think it ended up @ 5-0 Weddington.
