Gastonia and Henderson Co. began their 2nd round series last night at Ashbrook's field. Gastonia leads the series 1-0. Game two will be played this afternoon at Blue Ridge Community College at 3:00p. Early game time for lack of lights at field. Game three is scheduled for Gastonia's Sims Legion Park at 7:00.

The Gaston Braves (1st round winners against Taylorsville 3-0) start their 2nd round series against Shelby (1st round winners against Cherryville 3-2) at Shelby tonight at 7:00. Game 2 is scheduled for South Point HS tomorrow at 7:00.

As host of this year's State Tournament, Shelby gets an automatic bid regardless of the outcome of this series.

I'd like to thank the Gaston Gazette for their continued excellent coverage of Legion Baseball. The Gazette and the other "small market" papers have been outstanding. Just sorry that the Observer doesn't cover the Charlotte teams!

    Pineville/Newell matchup

Just sorry that the Observer doesn't cover the Charlotte teams!

    Ain't that the TRUTH!!!!!!!

For all the South Charlotte baseball fans (and others, of course), these games will be played right in your neighborhoods this week. Pineville plays its' home games at South Meck H.S. and Newell is playing out of Providence H.S. right now. Hardly any traveling involved to see some great Legion baseball and show these guys your support. All these Legion teams have been playing 9-inning games almost nightly since May 24th. It is a big commitment to play Legion and represent these Posts. Rally around your favorite team....hopefully, it will be Pineville Post 337!!!

Game 1: Sunday, July 11, 7 PM @ South Meck HS
Game 2: Monday, July 12, 7 PM @ Providence HS
Game 3: Tuesday, July 13, 7 PM @ South Meck HS
Game 4 (if necessary): Wednesday, July 14, 7 PM @ Providence HS
Game 5 (if necessary): Thursday, July 15, 7 PM @ South Meck HS

    That's great!!

That is great that all the games are right here. I am surprised Newell gave up playing at home, lack of fields I guess? Whatever the reason I think it is great that all the games will be right here. Good luck to Coach Rummage and all the Pineville boys!! :xyzthumbs Keep on winning!!

    Pineville/Newell 1st Game postponed

The first game of this series was postponed due to the weather. The series will begin Monday night at South Meck with the games alternating between Newell's home field of Providence H.S. and Pineville's home field of South Meck H.S. There was a tremendous turnout tonight for this game. I hope the support continues....it was great to see!

Caldwell beat Steele Creek 5-3 with the help of 7 Steele Creek errors. All 5 of their runs scored were unearned. Caldwell leads series 1-0, Game 2 is tonight at 7p.m. @ Olympic HS.
