Does anybody know how Fort Mill's baseball team is doing this year? I played with a few Fort Mill guys over the summer (Catcher Michael Adams, OF Derek Murr, 2B Brent Bonner, P Hamilton Bennett) and I was wondering how they're doing, or what's expected out of them. I also played with SS Cory Hinton from Rock Hill Northwestern and would like to get some info on him. If anybody could inform me here, I'd really appreciate it.

Person endured 2 tough losses to Wakefield (10-0) on Monday and Cardinal Gibbons (8-5) on Thursday.
The worst part of these losses were injuries to our 3 starting pitchers, as Jerrod Moore (JR/RHP) suffered a chipped bone in his middle finger of his pitching hand, Daniel Walker (SR/RHP) suffered a strained hip flexor, And Blake Bowes (SR/RHP) suffered an injury to to his non throwing shoulder diving after a foul ball in yesterdays games....

Such are the breaks so to speak but there is improvement. We hit the ball well against Ballenger (UNC-G) bu t it is tough juggling a pitching staff with 3 banged up starters.

I went to the West Meck vs. Garinger game and left early because the score was 15-0 in favor of West Meck in the 4th inning and the wind was crazy cold. Troy Lanham hit a grand slam for West, and Seth Stringfield went 1-2. It was only the 4th when I left but it couldn't have turned into a game.

WP- B.J. Bowen, had about 8 K's in 4 innings of work.

Piedmont 11 Charlotte Country Day 0

Piedmont 11 Charlotte Country Day 0 (5 innings)

Rob Lyerly (2-0) pitched a complete game shut-out (1 or 2 hits) for Piedmont (5-0). Piedmont's third complete game shut-out in a row.

Lyerly and Bryan Parker both had 2 run homeruns. Jason Austin was 3-3 and is 5-5 over the last two games.

Piedmont has only given up 1 run in the first 31 innings. The concern for Piedmont not having enough pitching depth may not be as big as first thought. They will get a big test next week with AL Brown, Robinson and Sun Valley.

It never ceases to amaze me on how such a small county can produce 3 such high quality HS teams year after year after year. There's arguably more competition in Henderson Co. than in the entire Western Highlands conference combined.

Just think if the county ever got wise and merged these 4 small schools?
