I've been a huge UVA fan for years, and its great to see PITCHING win ball games. Defense wins games in all sports, right? The Panthers have always impressed me with both offense and defense. Don is a excellent coach for finding talent setting up his staff. The Panther's showcase run should be worth watching this summer. I'm glad he has come over to join the Charlotte Hurricane facility and staff to combine interest with John Owens and Coach Simmons. I believe that Jake Robbins (pitching) and Jeff Shore (hitting) give both teams the edge for success. Stay tuned..........

This is a topic that seems to get debate quite often. I would love to hear from some of the head coaches on how they actually keep stats. While I have heard several methods - some coaches use parents, assistant coaches, student managers or even players to keep their book. I don't agree with questioning the integrity of coaches when most have a very firm method in place. I believe our team has the student manager who keeps the book - however, the head coach along with assistants go over the entire game and correct any mistakes while doing laundry immediately after the game. It has worked for a coach with 15+ years at his position. We also played in a game earlier this year where parents of the opposing team actually kept the book, but I feel sure that coach inspects his books as well. In this day and time, there are too many knowledgeable baseball minds to count at every game - but we have to have something to discuss.
