(14 of the 15 players are from Roxboro, One of our players LHP/1B John Smith plays for Bartlett Yancey in Yanceyville.)

Roxboro won 10-0 over a team from Mobile, Alabama. We played excellent defense this morning committing 0 errors. Dylan Dickens pitched a 6 inning complete game on 78 pitches, allowing only 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Dylan pitched his typical game, allowing ground balls which the defense in the field played well.

IN the 4th inning Roxboro batted around and the key events in that inning were...
Stephen Wright had 2 singles with a run scored and an RBI.
Cody Ellis 2 singles with a run scored and an RBI
TRavis Vaughn had a single and a run scored
CHristian Dickens had a 2 run double
Blake Whitt had an RBI, and Tyler Cothran had an RBI.

Alabama made 3 errors in that inning to help us out, mainly when we bunted to move runners into scoring position.

IN the 6th inning...
After Blake Coats walked, Kyle Gentry reached on a passed ball 3rd strike, and Trevor Kendrick was hit by a pitch, Stephen Wright & Cody Ellis singled to drive in a run each. Christian Dickens hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run and then Stephen Wright scored on a passed ball to end the game as a result of the 10 run slaughter rule.

Nate McBroom scored 2 runs as a special courtesy runner, which is a rule for Little League play.

We will play South Carolina tomorrow morning and Virginia on Sunday afternoon.

PLease pray for our continued safety and the kids to represent Roxboro as the outstanding young men they are. At the dinner last night, the waitress for our table told me that our kids were well-mannered (believe it or not ) more than any other team.


Win or lose I will keep you informed of our progress. We are happy to be here and know whatever we accomplish here that we are a good team.

Roxboro defeats South Carolina 12-2

Roxboro defeated South Carolina 12-2 today behind strong pitching from Stephen Wright. We had several hits and played good defense. I will provide more details when I get a chance to do so.

 

Steve,kevin and i have had our bags packed waiting on your call.I guess Florida was too good to pass up.Great job and keep up the winning ways.

 

It's that great NC coaching.....right now, Roxboro is simply dominating

 

The kids are playing hard, I am just along for the ride.

North Hampton, VA 7, Roxboro 2

Northhampton VA defeated Roxboro 7-2 today. Roxboro had a few hits but could not string much together (nothing in fact after the 1st inning), and it seemed like everything North Hampton hit fell in play. Blake Whitt, had 2 hits for Roxboro, and Cody Ellis, Travis Vaughan, Tyler Cothran, and NAte McBroom had 1 hit each.

Roxboro finishes as the 2 seed in pool play as Virginia, Roxboro and South Carolina were each 2-1, and will most likely play the team from Boyngton BEach FL in the semifinals tomorrow (Monday).


IN the win over South Carolina Saturday. Christian Dickens was 3-3 with 4 rbi's, Cody Ellis was 3-4, and Travis Vaughan, Stephen Wright, and Tyler Cothran had 1 hit each. INcidentally Wright walked 3 times and was teh winning pitcher. Wright pitched a 6 inning complete game, allowing 2 unearned runs on 2 hits with 4 K's and 1 BB.

 

Coach, glad to hear Roxboro is doing good down there. I see Cody and Stephen are playing real well. Good luck the rest of the way.
