Area III commissioner made the announcement today that Rowan County would play at Burlington no matter the outcome of the SRowan/Lexy series, beginning Saturday. Which means SRowan/Lexy winner would play Randolph County in next round, also beginning on Saturday. Of course the winner of the SRowan/Lexy series would determine who gets homefield advantage because Lexy is a higher seed than Randolph County, but Randolph would be a higher seed than SRowan.

Also because next round determines the 2 teams who go to state tournament, next round will be best of 7.

Area III 3rd round begins Saturday July 19 with:

    Rowan County at Burlington
    South Rowan at Randolph County

Understand Randolph Co has a scheduling conflict with their home stadium because its also the home of the Asheboro Copperheads wood bat team, so that particular series schedule may be altered some. Heard they are looking at possibly 1st 2 at Randolph, then next 2 at South, then 1 back and forth,,, nothing final yet. Stay tuned.

    Box is here.

They kept banging on the door, but they couldn't break it down.

Pitt County Post 39 didn't have trouble getting base runners against Wayne County Post 11 reliever Jay Rose Saturday afternoon in their Area I East semifinal playoff game at Pitt Community College. The problem was getting them home. As a result, Pitt is done for the season and Wayne (19-5) is headed to its twelfth league championship series in fifteen years.

Rose allowed one run over the last six innings and Nolan Lancaster had a two-run homer as Wayne rallied past its old nemesis 9-4 to take the series three games to one and move closer to a berth in the American Legion state tournament in Gastonia. Post 11 will face the winner of Saturday night's New Bern-Edenton game in a best-of-five beginning at home on Tuesday.

Pitt, which finished 16-9, had 13 base runners against Rose on five hits, five walks, a hit batter and two errors. But Rose never allowed anything more than a single and induced three of the four double plays Wayne turned.

Could one of the moderators update the first post in this thread for me? I've been busy with the cary junior team this weekend in the eastern championship and haven't had time to catch up on the sr legion updates.
