Shelby put a whoopin on Henderson County Tuesday night 6/3/08.

    Shelby - 20
    Henderson County - 5

Shelby hit 5 HRs including a grand slam in a 9 run 2nd inning. If the ball was in the strike zone it got hit hard by Shelby. There were 7 HRs combined so the ball was getting hammered all night.

It is hard to figure the Henderson County team out. I saw them play Burke and they played great, especially on defense. Then I heard they made 14 errors against Taylorsville and 13 in a game in Easley 2 weekends ago.

They didn't make but a couple of errors against Shelby though. Shelby earned their runs by taking the bad pitches and hitting the good ones.

Rowan uses about 7 different pitchers in this non-league win. Rowan is home against rival Kannapolis on Friday.

Durham was winning 11-1 after 4 innings when the defensive wheels came off and Burlington scores 18 runs over the next 3 innings to take a 19-12 going into the 9th. Durham scores 8 runs in the top of the 9th to take the lead 20-19, but could not hold on as Burlington scores 2 in the bottom of the 9th to win 21-20. Durham goes to 2-3 on the season.

Durham is at Wilson tonight at 7pm.

Mooresville beats Lexington 12-7,first time since 2005. If the pitching holds up for the year and the sticks stay hot they will be tough. Mooresville had 18 hits against a tough Lexington team.

Rowans gets their second league win of the year with an impressive thrashing of their rival Wojans. Kannapolis took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, but after that it was all Rowan. Justin Roland broke open a 4-2 game with a three run homerun. Rowan is starting to come together now that they have their full complement of players. Rowan returns to action Saturday night when they host neighbor South Rowan. Former Rowan star Weston Church will be back at Newman, but just with a different team. Should be fun.

Rowan rallies after trailing 7-4 in the 8th inning to get their 3rd league win of the year. (7-3 overall, 3-3 Area III South) Randy Shephard hit a two out grand slam to give South the momentary lead in the top of the 8th. Catcher Austin Shull drove in the go ahead runs to make it 9-7 in the bottom of the 8th. Great starting pitching on both sides (Walker Snow for South & Billy Veal for Rowan). Rowan looks to continue their win streak Sunday night when they travel over to Rich Park in Mocksville.

Five homeruns were hit in total tonight.
    Rowan: Zach Smith, D.C. Cranford
South: Maverick Miles, Randy Shephard (2)

Weston Church went 3-for-5 in his return to Newman Park.

Durham falls to 2-5 on the season, 0-1 in conference. Durham had their chances late in the game, but failed to get a timely hit when needed. On a play that would have loaded the bases, a base running mistake ended the rally, and Cary held on for the win.

Durham is at Cary tonight @7pm (Green Hope High School)
