    Shelby vs. Cherryville

Of course it was a thriller tonight in Shelby. Any time these two teams get together, you know something great is going to happen. That great thing happened to Shelby tonight as they won on a two out error in the bottom of the ninth inning 3-2. Seth Canipe was on third base and Kyle Kendrick hit a shallow fly ball up the middle, and the shortstop for Cherryville dropped it and allowed the winning run to score. The story of the game however was Shelby pitcher Adam Izokovic who had the Cherrville hitters off balance all night going all 9 innings only giving up the two runs. They split the season series and we can all hope they meet in the Area IV playoffs down the line.

Wayne County scores seven in the bottom of the eighth to rally past Pitt 39 11-9. Both teams are 3-3 in the division.

This might be the worst pitching staff we've had since, oh, 1990.

    Rowan 9
    Kannapolis 4

Rowan improves to 10-5 in Area III South with a comeback win over Kannapolis. The game was scoreless for 4 innings until the Wojans struck for 4 runs. Rowan then responded with 2 runs in the next inning. Both starters were pretty good tonight; John Tuttle for K-Town and the young lefty Zach Simpson for Post 342. The Rowan bullpen held Kannapolis scoreless through the efforts of Matt Hall (who got the win) and Justin Roland who continued to dazzle recording all of his outs via the strikeout. Rowan is at South Rowan Saturday night.

Also the Kannapolis shortstop made an amazing catch that was major league. Russell Michalec hit a pop up that looked like it might turn to a base hit but somehow he made the diving grab. It was definitely worth mentioning, I cannot remember his name though. Maybe TJ21 can help me out.

Durham finally gets the bats going and has a solid win behind good pitching. Durham improves to 8-7 overall and 4-2 in conference.
Durham plays a DH at Clayton on Sunday at 5pm at SSS high school.

From the Goldsboro News-Argus. I don't know which team you're playing.

It sounds as if you're playing WC North. I don't know much about that level. The Charles B. Aycock crowd started that team a few years ago because they felt they were getting shafted by the southern part of the county. Needless to say, they think their kids are God's gift. It may be that some EW players are on that team.

Wilson has been working hard to pry CBA players from us, and it wouldn't do for me to get started about that crowd.

You can probably read something about the WC teams' game in the Sunday News-Argus.

    Shelby vs. Rutherfordton

Shelby Post 82 piled up 21 runs and 24 hits in one of those contests Friday night where everyone gets to play.
Yet even though Post 82 rang up a 21-15 Area IV Western Division win against visiting Rutherford County at Veterans Field and Keeter Stadium, the contest went on a little longer than planned.
The host team led 19-4 entering the top of the seventh needing only three outs for the game to be over early due to the 10-run mercy rule. Rutherford County had other ideas, pushing six runs across in the inning and forcing the contest to go all nine innings.
Records: Shelby 10-4 division, 16-11 overall; Rutherford County 8-6 division (and overall)
What's next: Post 82 is back home tonight for a 7 o'clock contest with Lake Norman.
On Sunday, Shelby will host a day/night doubleheader. Post 82 faces Rock Hill, S.C., at 2 p.m., then takes on Denver at 7 p.m.
Hit parade: Adam McFarland, Brett Mabry and Julian Ridings supplied three hits apiece to spark the Post 82 barrage. Seth Canipe, Brett Wease, Kyle Kendrick, Corey Cline and James Gold contributed two hits each.
Mabry and Ridings each collected three RBI in the contest with McFarland - who doubled twice - picking up a pair.
Mound brigade: Eric Shuford started for Shelby and worked five innings to get the win. He allowed four runs, three earned. K.J. Dotson, Jay Robinson and Kyle Nanney all saw pitching duty before the end.
Bunting exhibition: Shelby jumped up 4-0 in the first inning largely due to its ability to drop bunts down against Rutherford starting pitching Jon Garmon. Wease, Kendrick and Mabry all successfully beat out bunts for Post 82 in the rally. McFarland had a sacrifice fly and Ridings a run-scoring single during the outburst.

Westboy, nice to meet you last night, Rowan has a great team but our boys have come around and played some great baseball the 2nd half of the season too. I think we've won something like 5 of last 7 now.

Thought for a about 7 innings last night we had you.:banghead: Rowan is the caliber of team that you just cannot make any mistakes because they will take advantage of the slightest slipups, which is a sign of a good team. Our boys did play well last night, it was actually a very good game for a fan to just watch and enjoy, great pitching on both sides, great defense, sacrifice bunts and flys, just good baseball.

Thanks for the props, and best of luck to Rowan rest of year. Hopefully we'll meet in playoffs, thats always fun.
