    6/29:
    Game 1:
    Durham Post 7 11
    Clayton Post 71 9

    Game 2:
    Clayton Post 71 13
    Durham Post 7 8

Both of these games fetured teams which did not want to play with a lead. Durham scores 8 in the top of the 7th to take the lead for good in game 1. Clayton scores 7 in the 4th to tie a 7-0 Durham lead and 6 in the 5th to take the lead for good in game 2. I fully expect to see these teams play each other in the playoffs.

    6/30:
    Durham Post 7 11
    Roxboro 1

Durham gets solid pitching and breaks the game open with 7 in the 5th to improve to 10-8 overall and 5-2 in conference.

Durham is at Apex on Wed, 7/2 @ 7pm.

    Rowan 6
    Lexington 5

Rowan trails 5-4 going into the bottom of the 10th inning and rallies for the big win. Austin Shull reached on an error and then Justin Roland singled to put two on with none out. After a sacrifice by Philip Miclat, and an intentional walk to Trey Holmes, Rowan had the bases loaded with one out. Noah Holmes walked to tie the game. After a strikeout by Russell Michalec, Billy Veal hit a bloop single that must have missed the shortstops glove by an inch to bring home the winning run for RC. Most of the crowd thought the he had made an amazing catch but then the umpire signaled he had not. A great game to watch, well played on both sides. The game was a pitching duel until the 6th inning, Rowan trailed 4-0 and Clay Watson (Catawba College signee) was dealing, but 5 consecutive hits brought Rowan all the way back. In the top of the 10th, Lexington had a 5-4 lead with runners on second and third with one out and Justin Roland pitched out of the jam to give Rowan a chance. Justin Roland earned the win, but the unsung hero of the game was the middle relief work of Matt Hall. Hall came in the game in the 6th inning with bases loaded and no outs and got a huge double play. Matt pitched 4 innings and only allowed one run to a good hitting LD bunch. Rowan is off on Wednesday before their season finale at South Rowan.

    Shelby vs. Burke (shelbystar.com)

It took a wild comeback in the ninth inning for Shelby Post 82 to defeat Burke County in the first meeting between the two Area IV West division foes back on June 5.
In the second matchup, Post 82 did most of the damage early Tuesday night against visiting Post 21 and cruised to a 13-3 victory in seven innings.
What it means: Shelby (12-4 Area IV West, 22-10 overall) clinched at least a tie for third with Burke County (10-6, 13-7) in the division standings with two games left. Should the two teams finish tied, Post 82 - now 6-0 at home - would own the tiebreaker having won both head-to-head meetings.
Early and often: Shelby scored seven runs in the first, then added five in the third to break it open. All nine Post 82 starters registered at least one hit during the early outburst.
Kyle Kendrick (3-4, 3 RBI, run), Seth Canipe (3-4, RBI, 3 runs) and Julian Ridings (2-3, RBI, 2 runs) had two hits each over the first three innings. In the first, Jordan Robinson (2 runs) knocked in two with a single, while Adam McFarland added an RBI double. Jacob Tisdale and Corey Cline added run-scoring base hits in the third.
Brett Mabry singled and scored twice as Brett Wease contributed a single and two sacrifice bunts.
From the catcher: "This team has a lot of chemistry. It seems like once somebody gets a hit, it keeps going and going," Kendrick said. "We were ready to play here ... it feels good to be undefeated at home."
Final run: Canipe raced home on a throwing error in the fourth to tally Post 82's 13th run.
On the mound: Adam Izokovic (2-0) went five innings to record the win. The Gardner-Webb signee struck out five and issued two walks while allowing five hits and three runs (two earned).
Pfeiffer-bound righthander Eric Shuford worked the last two innings, striking out five with one walk. Shuford gave up no runs and two hits. Post 82 pitchers overcame four errors by the defense.
For Burke: Dustin Kinley had two hits, including a home run, while Steve Dyson also had two hits. Chris Fine singled to right in the top of the seventh, but Trey Young, who reached on an error, was cut down at the plate on throw from Ridings to Kendrick to end the game.
