must be a LOOOOOONG drive back from Mocksville to Shelby....

as for that Ragsdale game - for some reason 2 of the 3 TV stations here had the final score 36-12 which is weird since neither team ever landed on those #s. at least News 2 had it right.

Ragsdale started off mixing good run/pass plays and took a 14-7 lead in the first on 2 Baker runs. Too many penalties ( all game even) helped NW score their TD in the first.

In the second Ragsdale had a drive stall at the 33 on 4 and 10. Ragsdale went for it and Mullins to WR Kensmoe ( backup QB) on the receiver option and Kensmoe threw a 33 yard wobbler to a wide open Ben Vestal for a 21-7 lead.

NW made a good drive down the field - had it 1st and goal on the 10 but Ragsdale held and took over on the 24 - 30 seconds left til halftime - one play BOOM - Baker finally gets the corner and 12 seconds later its a 76 yd TD and 28-7 at the half. Baker 12-156 yds 3 TDs in the half

Ragsdale defense really picked up in the second half and Baker kept motoring. Mullins scored on a 11 yd QB keeper in the 3rd and the first play of the 4th was a 52 yd Baker TD and he was out after that.

NW scored late to make the final 41-14. Again Baker 19-280 and 4 TDs. Mullins was 8-12 126 yds , 1 rushing TD and one really overthrown INT. Ben Vestal had 4 catches for 90 yds, 1 TD and some big downfield blocks for Baker - he's a tough 5-7 receiver that never drops a pass if he gets his hands on it. Brandon helps at TE is looking really good too 3 catches for 56 yards.

Kicking game is solid - Mullins is a great punter and Widman nails his PATs and hits the endzone on his kickoffs.

Pass defense needs to nut up because with Western Guilford, HP Central and Eastern Randolph on the schedule it will be a lot of balls flying through the air.

Crest had 400 yards of offense to Davies around 220. Gullatte threw for 270 yards. The Crest defense held Arnold to like 70 yards (he's around 500 in 2 previous games). An Int returned and a Kickoff return doomed the Chargers. Just one of those games. Crest didn't play horrible, Davie made big plays. Davie is a very good football team.
