    Feel Your Pain....

Welcome to the world of "Big Time" softball!! This is not an uncommon thing, unfortunately. The big name teams often load up their rosters with 16-20 players for the big tournaments like Colorado.

I saw a girl a few years back at Colorado hit a homerun her first at bat, then proceeded to hit back to back doubles and then never saw the field again the rest of the tournament. Talk about shattering a young lady's belief in what is right...it really took a toll on this kid and several others that didn't get to play! How do you stay motivated if you know you will never see the field...even when winning by 9 or 10 runs.

It's hard to watch a kid that is performing well sit the bench....in this case one of the coach's daughters also played the same position...you be the judge.

Like I said in a earlier post--I thought it was about getting the girls that have not signed seen, not playing your signed kids 90 % of the tourn.--I think it has more to do with the coach wanting to be able to say-Hey we won a certain game or tourn. than getting the others seen. Yea you might not win, but I thought showcase ball wasn't about winning and loosing. I know everybody wants to win but when lots of money is spent to hopefully get your kid seen and all she does is sit the bench it's kind of hard to swallow. Just pick your teams carefully and find out if they are truthfully playing showcase ball for the kids and not there teams name.

Great idea to take it to a message board instead of talking to the coach! Not!

Wow, that must have been a good team?

If it's not about winning or losing it doesn't sound like sport. If you're not winning or losing, you're losing! At least as far as it relates to sport!

I KNOW EVERYBODY LIKES WINNING BUT ARE YOU ONLY GOING TO PLAY YOUR SIGNED GIRLS AND LEAVE THE OTHERS SITTING JUST TO GET THE WIN ? REMEMBER WE ARE TALKING ABOUT SHOWCASE BALL NOT A TB TOURNAMENT TO GET A TROPHY. SOME PEOPLE NEED TO LEARN THE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN THE 2. IF YOU SPENT $1000 OR $2000 TO GOT TO A BIG TOURN. TO GET YOUR DD IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOLS THAT SHE WANTS TO GET SEEN BY AND ALL SHE GETS TO DO IS WATCH THE GIRLS THAT HAVE ALREADY SIGNED PLAY SO THE TEAM CAN WIN. I DON'T THINK YOU'D LIKE IT TO MUCH!!!!!!!!!

AND BY THE WAY SHOWCASE BALL IS A SPORT BUT IT'S MORE ABOUT THE GIRLS GETTING AN OFFER TO PLAY BALL AT A COLLEGE SOMEWHERE THAN IT IS ABOUT WINNING!!!!

No college team wins every ball game, nor does any pro team. You can't decide that you want to win a game. Do you get upset when you lose? Of course, that's human nature. That's what competition is. Showcase ball is about playing at one of the top levels, and giving it your all against great competition. If you want to play in college, get out there and show it. I've seen some kids get to play in college without even doing the showcase stuff.
Now, when you get to college, and finish 20 & 35, are you going to be happy? Only the very best in college, pro, or travel finish above .500. You can seek out weak competition, and win a lot. What is the answer?

I still get a laugh out of the people who think that their dd will get a look by the college coaches at these big showcase tournaments. Probablly got a better shance of winning enough money for college by play the lottery. Sure one stands out every now and again but it is usually a pitcher and the thing is if they're good enough to stand out and be seen they are already ''known". If your going to go play go play to win that is what sports are about. I hate that when you go to these and times up with a tie score that is how it ends. Reminds me of soccer. UGH!!!!!

I'm sorry sir, I didn't know you were such an expert on these kind of things. I think I'll just start another thread on don't spend money on going to showcase tourn. because no scout ever looks and no one gets noticed. I guess all the scouts that I saw this weekend with notebooks in their hands were really menus at their favorite restaurant.LOL

your right on the money If a girl wants to be seen they need to contact the college programs of their choice and let them know of their interest and a little about their softball skills. if the coach is at that tournament they WILL take a look. I invite any coach that will be looking at one of my girls to let me know when they will be there and if they do I will have that player in the right spot for the coach to see her, All my girls know and understand this as do my parents, But only at the request of the college coach.
II also agree that the scores mean nothing in this format and they shouldn't because many lineups are based on a players need to be seen and not, at times the best lineup to win with. but the scores sure means a lot to some folks Just look at the thread about it.
