The Lady Blues will have their fourth Showcase Day May 24, 2008 at Belmont Abbey College. The showcase will be open to high school Freshman, Sophmores, Juniors, and any unsigned senior!

We will run drills that are designed by college coaches so they can evaluate the abilities of the individual campers in a very informal setting. All drills will be performed on the field so the coaches can get a clear view of each players performance.

Pitchers and catchers will need to arrive at 8am for an 8:45 start, this will give you time to sign in and loosen up. The pitchers will go through three mounds and will throw two different pitches (5 each) at each location. Catchers will be assigned unless a pitcher brings their own catcher. After the pitchers go through these workouts, each will be given three pitches to gauge their speed. We expect to finish by 9:30 and then catchers will drop and block, timed throw down to second, (three) and throw once to first and third. This should end by 10:00.

Position players drills will start at 10:15 and run till 12:30 depending on the number of campers! We will field positions, throw, run, catch, hit, and time home to first and home to home. One time home to home, two times home to first. Also come prepared to slide, something we have not done in the past.

We will provide the coaches with a profile book for all campers that provide us the proper information. We will need your profiles by May 17 to assure you are in the book provided to the coaches. More information will follow with an outline of items needed on profile.

Thanks for the players that have come in the past! We will take the first 50 players and the cost is $100 which includes a shirt, your profile provided to the college coaches that attend and at least 50 more that I will forward to after the showcase. DON'T MISS THIS LOCAL OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW YOUR SKILLS!

*****Update: Getting kids from Virginia and South Carolina so if you are interested, please send me your profile! Would be nice to have some players from teams that the Blues have always attended tournaments they sponsor! If I get 12 more kids, we will run two sessions, morning and afternoon.

** Contact Rodney Threatt or Dan O'Connor if U have questions or want to sign-up to attend. RT: 704-562-0479 DO: 704-517-1084 or PM Abbey fan

    Calls

Due to a few phone calls and e-mails asking about Showcase Day, just wanted to get it back out front for all to see. We will limit the Number to 50 girls so all will get plenty of exposure in front of coaches. Many have asked what schools are coming and the best way to get quality schools out is to get quality players signed up so I can advertise them to coaches. Also coaches, the best way to get quality kids is to have coaches committ. The Blues Showcase has averaged 12 coaches a year for this event which based on my experience is not bad. Cost is $100 and U will get exposure to the coaches at the clinic and I will also send your profiles to at least 50 other coaches that may not attend.
Remember the college playoffs are in full swing at the time of showcase but we really can not have it any other time given the full summer schedule.
Coaches in past UNCC, Furman, App. State, Longwood, Elon, Queens, Belmont Abbey, Limestone, UNC-P, UNC-W, Augusta State, USC-Upstate, Presbyterian, Wingate, JMU, Erskine, Lander, Methodist.

Va Tech, UNC, NCSU have all wanted to attend but have been in playoffs each year.

Come show your stuff and enjoy a day where U can show a coach your skills without worrying are they going to see you or not! You are on center stage and there are not 1000's of other player for which you must compete!!:vork:
