Carolina Cubs went 2-1-1 at Appy State. Wins over Hurricanes and Pro Level Sports, tie vs Dirtbags and a loss to Dirtbags 17U. Up and down weekend for the Cubs but they will get it figured out.

Seth Maness actually got the loss in that game, not Linza.

Anybody know how the Charlotte Heat are doing this season? I see they beat the Panthers in one game. They were down at Charleston at the Diamond Devils tourney last week. Any info on how they did down there? They have some good players this season and I heard they picked up a couple of real good Hickory boys in Ben Gibbs and Derrick Bolick.

Cubs vs Dirtbags at App State

I witnessed a great game Saturday at App State between the Dirtbags and Cubs. BJ Dail from Millbrook HS (UNC) started on the hill for the Cubs and Trent Rothlin from Foard HS (Clemson) for the Dirtbags. Quite honestly this was the hardest and the best I have ever seen BJ throw. He had tremendous controll painting with a great fb and a 12-6 deuce that was nasty. Rothlin pitched very well for the Dirtbags. Bray pitched the 6 and 7th for the Cubs and Holt went the 5th 6th and 7th for the Dirtbags. The game ended in a 4 - 4 tie after 7 and was called due to darkness. Pitching definitely dominated with the teams combining for 7 total hits. It was a fun game to watch with all the players out there.

First off, yes they did pick up two great players in Ben Gibbs and Derek Boliek (spelling) and the team is off to a 5-3 start with key wins against Diamond Devils 18's, Dirtbags 16's, and the South Charlotte Panthers. Ben Gibbs beat the Diamond Devils and then pitched 5 solid innings against the Panthers. Dustin Harrington got the win against the Dirtbags. Derek Boliek is leading the team in hitting thus far thru 8 games batting around .570 and an OBP of around .760 and is already 11/11 on stolen bases. Dustin Harrington is also hitting the ball well hitting around .500. This team is very young but they are a very well coached team and the key word is TEAM. I like watching this team because they are not all out there for themselves, they play ball like it should be played.
