    CATAMOLUNT CLASSIC

The 18U Dirtbags have had a successful weekend here thus far, with wins over the Uhwarrie Anglers 12-2, The WNC Rebels 11-0, and the Florence (SC) Redwolves 13-2. The only loss was an 8-5 loss to the Megastars where we made errors and let one slip away, not to take anything at all from the Megastars, they produced ad we did not in the field.

Semifinal matchups: At WCU on Sunday:

9:30 - Dirtbag 17's vs Dirtbag 18's... could be very interesting...
    12:15 - On Deck O's vs Megastars
    2:45 - Winners for Championship

After 6 games in two days the Panthers were down to pitching by drawing straws among field players. The Astros suited up 26 players for the game and pitching depth could not be matched. The Astros went on to beat the Richmond Braves 15's in the championship. The Richmond team is a very solid team made up of multi state players and as mentioned in an earlier post won the 15U WWBA event this summer.

A well run event and No Rain; liked getting in 10 games but will add some arms for future events.

    Catamount Classic

    Semifinals

    Game 1
    Impact Dirtbags 17u - 8
    Impact Dirtbags 18u - 6

After going up 8-0 on the 18u, the 18u scored 6 runs in the 6 inning to make it close, but wade moore shut down the 18u to record the final 4 outs and send the 17u to the championship

    Game 2
    On Deck O's 17u - 6
    Charlotte Megastars - 4

    WP: Hamilton Bennett

Bennett pitched 6 scoreless innings and pitched a 2 hit shutout. After building up at 6-0 lead, the megastars scored 4 runs in he 7th off of 6 walks by the O's bullpen, the bullpen got it together and retired the megastars and were ready to meet the rival dirtbags in the championship.

    Championship

    On Deck O's 17u - 8
    Impact Dirtbgags 17u - 3

    WP: Travis McConnell

The O's jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the 1st off of 7 hits. McConnell pitched very well verses a loaded impact team, his only flaw was giving up a 400+ ft. bomb to Dustin Ackley to cut the score to 6-3. In the 6th Jared Bard hit a 2 out triple to drive in Max Fulginiti and Devin Harris and seal the deal and make the O's the 2005 Catamount Classic Champions for the 2nd year in a row.

    SC Pelicans

finished third in the 17U AAU Nationals in Louisville. Only loss was to All Pro Freight out of Cinci in the semis. They were huge and just flogged the ball all week. All in all, a good week of ball by the Pelicans.
