    Problems at WWB in Atlanta

The weather has wreaked havoc on the start of the 18U Championships. Monday washout meant repooling and starting over. Then two fields were unplayable today so those games have to be rescheduled. Play did start this morning at 10 AM.

    Carolina Copperheads 16U Select

    Copperhead Showcase 7/9-7/10

    Copperhead 16U Select 4
    Team Charlotte 3

    WP: Roseoff
    LH: Shane Brown 2-2 (2B)

    Copperhead 16U Select 1
    Carolina Gators 18U 4

Nick Fogelman pitched well through 4 innings, allowing only 2 hits. Copperheads up 1-0 late in the fifth allowed a few bloop hits & 2 errors to give the Gators the win.

    LP: Fogelman

    Copperheads 16U Select 11
    Carolina Gators 16U 11 (8 innings)

Justin Brock pitched an outstanding game through five innings for the Copperheads, holding a tough Gator team to 3 runs. With the Copperheads up 11-3, the bats finally woke up for the Gators; scoring 8 runs in the final 2 innings. You hate to see good games like this end in a tie.....

    LH: Shane Brown 2-3 (2B) 2BB, Daniel Roseoff 2-3, Alex Hill 2-3
    Nick Vaughn 2-3 (3B)

    Copperheads 16U Select 9
    Uhwarrie Anglers 18U 7

    WP: Brandon Whitt
    LH Alex Hill, Aarron Plummer

Whitt was outstanding in his first 3+ innings, but the bats finally woke up for the Anglers late in the game. Copperheads shocked the Anglers with 3 runs in the first inning and never looked back. With the Copperheads leading 9-0 in the fourth, the Anglers began hitting. Along with 3 errors, the Anglers fought back to get 7 runs before time ran out.

The Copperheads will meet the South Charlotte Panthers Thursday July 14th @ North Mecklenburg High School for a wood bat scrimmage (6PM). Both teams are expected to do well at the upcoming Perfect Game Nationals 16U.

Good Luck to both squads next week!

    O's 17U @ Perfect Games

O's lost to Jacksonville Warriors (i assume FL) 5-1

J Bard pitched well with 11, I think, K's... except for 3 pitches that resulted in 2 2-run HRs by the same guy and another solo shot by someone else.
O's hit into 15 ground-outs so the bats lacked punch and didn't produce any run support to speak of.

BTW- older bro D Bard is mowing down the Cape Cod league.

17U O's play today @ 11:30 and 6:30 but the schedule is a mess due to the rain:

    17U O's

the 17s tied 4-4 vs Teaneck NJ Bandits. Andress pitched a beauty going out with a 4-1 lead. Bullpen had difficulty and couldn't hold.

    K Fulgiama was 3/3 w/ 2 rbis offensively for the O's.

6:30 game is in rain delay. Despite the 0-1-1 record, the O's are currently in 2nd place via runs allowed. A well timed Win could put them in the medal round by tiebreaker.

    Dirtbags -------------2
    San Diego Showcase -9

    Dirtbags -----6
    Richmond---- 3

Dirtbags must win their next game to advance. They might have to play one of those 1:30am games

Both Faggert boys contributed with a HR and key double in the win.

The O's 18's went into today's game with a berth in the championships already clinched .... it was a good thing too.

After 1/3rd of an inning, they trailed 10-0, surrendering 3 monster shots to the East Cobb Braves 18U including a grand salami (the other 2 were 2-run shots).

After laughing it off, they played well the rest of the game, losing 3-2 (or should I say 13-2) surrendering only 1 more dinger (solo shot).
