Showcase Season

At the Virginia Tech showcase, saw yesterday's Heat 2010 victory over Megastars Red, 7-0. Solid mound performance with at least 7 K's from Alex Embler (Westchester Country Day) and looked like just one solid hit. Among the top hitters: two doubles from 2B-OF Ethan Suarez (Statesville), home run from 3B-OF Matt Fernandez (Roberson) and double and single from OF Matt Reeves (Greer Riverside). For the Megastars, P Daniel Stewart (Charlotte Catholic) went most of the way, surviving shaky defense in the first inning, with OF Brian Mittl (Charlotte Latin) providing a single.

 

Mas did look good Fri. against Lake Monsters. Lake Monsters go 4-0 on weekend with Tyler Barnette, Ethan Cochran (CG 84 pitches against Twisters, 2 RS), Hunter Jones, and Dylan Newton getting wins. Will Bullock, Matt Laxton, Trey Talley, Ryan Allen pitching great in relief. Mas is for real though.

 

SCPanthers 2011

SCPanthers 2011 went 3-1 at this weekend at the Canes showcase. I don't have the specific box scores, but here are the scores.

On Deck O's at Virginia tech

The 2010 17u On Deck O's went 3-1 at Virginia Tech,
With wins over the 17U CBC Diamond Rats, 17U Canes South, and the 18U Charlotte megastars, before lsing to All Star Baseball Academy out of PA.

The 2011 16U On Deck O's Black went 4-0 at Virginia Tech, with wins over the 16U canes South, the 16U CBC Diamond Rats, the 17U CBC Diamond Rats, and the 18U Virginia Aces.

the 2011 16U On Deck O's Orange went 0-4. they played well on Sunday but fell 3-1 to the 17U CBC Diamond rats.

Canes Showcase at VTech

Just in from umpiring this event. What a beautiful campus. The games were great with lots of talented teams from the Northeast. Hopefully someone that knows some of these players can name some names.

PS: The memorial to the massacre victims was very well done but sad.

Impact ECU Showcase

I was impressed with the Tidewater Orioles Scout Team, Greensboro Batting Center Orange and the Dirtbag 17's which had some very good players. Hopefully someone can post some names of the guys that had big hits and pitched well?

I thought the young catcher for the Dirtbags 15's showed some excellent skills. He is the son of Aguyyouknow.

 

Canes UVA Showcase

Some impressive teams in this event such as All-Star Baseball Academy of PA and the New Jersey Twins teams. The North Canes only gave up 1 run in their 4 games. Again I hope someone will post names of some of the players that had a great weekend.

The Long Island Sharks and the Virginia Aces played in this event coached by my buddies Greg and Tim.

 

Good eye their Stretchy...btw, the kid is an even better catcher !

 

Showcase at the Beach

Great weekend at the Dynamic Baseball Showcase in Virginia Beach. 40 teams 8 venues

Lynnhaven Baseball plays 24 innings of baseball on Sunday to win the tournament beating the North Canes 2-1 in the quarters, the Allstar Prospects of Pennsylvania 3-0 in 10 innings in the semis and defeating the Senior Canes in the Championship game 3-1.

Christopher Newport University was the site for the championship round and that place is beautiful.
