McDowell hosts 3A Power Enka Today @ 4:00 PM. The Senior Bartlett vs. Sophomore Blankenship should be a good pitching duel. Bartlett comes in 2-0, 1.00 ERA, 10K's in 14 IP.

Several people have asked about basketball. Erin May (1B) is the only starter from last year's team playing basketball.

I'll post results after the game.

Hopefully this thread will grow as teams start playing the heart of their non-conference schedule???

AC plays Ashe County tonite at 6:00 @ AC

    Will post score later.

    Ashe- 3
    AC- 0

Just to add to AC's woes this year Donnie Pennell quit as assisistant coach. This is a blow to the program this year. Even though Coach Lingle does a good job with the girls she lacks the experience in fast pitch. First season for the signal caller for our pitchers also. It's just beginning to get interesting. Keep your chin up ladies!

    News For 3A Contenders...

Enka is good, real good, really good, really really good. Blankenship fires no hitter in season opener for Sugar Jets as they down McDowell 11-0 in 5 innings.

Four of Enka's starters finished basketball last Tuesday.

The two teams square off again on Thursday in Candler.

CFBALL; You're right this should be a good game. I don't know any of the E. Lincoln girls personally but do know the team and they are mighty strong with some collegiate prospects. As for SC they are loaded with talent. 4 of the girls are already commited to a college Winebarger,Adams,Benfield, and Austin. Anderson also going to Phiffer on a Basketball scholarship and if the softball coach is smart he 'll be after her there. SC has 6 or 7 girls that will play college ball.
Hope the weather holds can't wait to see this game. With both of these teams in the Easter tourn. at South they could play each other 3 or 4 time this year. Should be good for both teams.

Hey SCFAN, I just got a flyer on the Easter tournament you guys are having. Looks like some good games for everyone to enjoy over Easter with 4 quality teams (East Lincoln, RS Central, NW Cabarrus and South Caldwell). I'll be sure to see this one. I've heard you guys have made a lot of improvements on the ball field. How about filling us in on whats up.

Cfball, Sorry for the confussion. That's what happens when you don't log out and you have a 12 year old in the house. no harm though he is right, the parents, coaches and booster club have made many improvements over the last couple of years on the field. They added two pitchers mounds and a batting cage, a press box and storage room, concession stand and bathrooms, and most recently lights on the field. Really is a nice facility down there now. Don't have many bleachers but there is plenty of good seating if you bring your own chairs.
As for the Easter tournament: Fri April 18 has games at 1,3,5,and 7. On Sat. games are at 11,1,5 and 7. I'm not sure of the pairings but will post as soon as possible. Hope you can make a couple games.

no problem scfan and it sounds like the facilities are up to where We Fans like to see and are proud of! Nice to see that your community is providing equal facilities for all and we will see you on Friday and can mix the APP State/UNCW games in during this time! Good luck tommorrow and a nice early test for both teams!
