I agree with the old saying that for the good players there is no off-season, but to have a pitching showcase in December is a little much. Seems like a workout during this time of year should be under a squat bar or running down the road. What good can come out of a 20 pitch bullpen in 50 degree weather, other than a free t-shirt. Many of the arm troubles that come about these days are from over pitching these YOUNG men. Use the winter to prepare your body for the 9 month season ahead, especially if you can't even drive to the event.
I'm not trying to ruffle that many feathers, but maybe some dads and players can step back and take a look at how you build yourself as a pitcher, and not worry who is watching. If you build it correctly, they will come. Push it, and eventually there may not be much to see.

I understand where you are coming from vikes and I agree somewhat, but keep this in mind. Most pitchers are long tossing during this time of year. Most schools are having their winter workouts. To participate in a 20 pitch bullpen (after warmups) in a gym (weather is not a factor) should not be taxing unless the pitcher has shutdown completely the past two months.

Many people across the state have complained that Impact never gets an opportunity to see them play. Well, here is their opportunity. But, if you have a son that has shutdown his arm during this time of year....I certainly don't recommend participating.

I hope all pitchers are running, lifting, stretching and long tossing now.

    Agrreeeeee....

with Vikes! The only "showcases" a player should be involved in AT THIS TIME is his relationship with his family and close friends, the Christian faith if that is their faith and certainly gearing down hard and heavy on those MID TERMS! Those are the "reeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaal" showcases at this time IMHO!

I agree with vikes and o this is just a way for these so called scouts to squeez just a little more money out of mom and dad before the spring season starts.nothing wrong with working out and preparing your body for the upcoming season but showcase's in December let's get real.

    no December showcases

boy do I agree with no December showcases. My boy was plum tuckered out last year at this time. All he wanted to do was rest from baseball for a month, or month and 1/2. But he couldn't - schools that were interested in him wanted to see him in their December hitting camps. He had to continue working out hard to stay in tip-top form to keep up those looked-at numbers. In his case, it was worth it...he was approached by his chosen school in December. Thank goodness, cuz I was tired of carting him around also!!!!!!!:laugh1:

Agree with Vikes28 too!! Most players have been playing pretty much non-stop since last February when the hs season started -then went from there to legion or showcase teams in the summer, and from there to showcase teams in the fall. There is still a lot of "off-season" workouts they can do and give their arms a rest! Thanks for your original post, Vikes28! :applause:

I know our kids right now are just doing weight training, running, and hitting in our indoor facility. Not throwing.
