Lee Blalock from Sun Valley has signed to play baseball with Surry Community College. Coach Tucker is getting a heck of a player. I have had the fortunate opportunity to watch this young man develop both as a person and an athlete. Have not seen too many kids with his ability.... starting quarterback on the football team, starting center on the basketball team, pitcher (5-2), struck out 18 batters in a game this year, and great hitter, hitting over .500 and hit his 9th homerun last night against Forest Hills going 3-3. Lee has a tremendous future ahead of him. I wish him the best.

Lee Blaylock already has the build of a professional athlete. Wouldn't surprise me to see him heading in that direction in the next year or two.. Congratulations Lee :applause:

Congratulations to Sean Snell, Charlotte Latin catcher, for his signing at UNC-G. Sean is excellent in an area that goes unnoticed. He knows how to call a game and control his pitchers. If they need to make an adjustment in their mechanics or need an adjustment in their attitude, he can do that and at the right times. UNC-G has now signed with Sean and Adam Deleo, two of the top catchers in the State.

Is it true that Louisburg actually won the Region X this year after all (at least for the regular season portion)?

For the record, Surry is getting a great one in Lee Blaylock. I have had the priviledge of watching him play for the last 3 years and he is a great player and kid. Congrats to Lee!

Yeah, that is correct that Louisburg won the regular season championship this year. As you well know, the winner of the tournament is all that moves on to the districts, which happens to be held this year in the Carolinas. Whoever wins the Region X tournament will host the district tournament to play for the right to go to the World Series in Colorado. Here is how Region X finished up:

    1. Louisburg (21-7-1) vs. 8. USC-Salkehatchie
    2. Surry (19-7) vs. 7. Wilkes
    3. Spartanburg Methodist (not sure of conf. record) vs. Rockingham
    4. Pitt vs. 5. Blue Ridge

The tournament starts Wednesday in Spartanburg. It looks to be a great tournament. If I remember correctly, my original post from the beginning of the year only missed two teams, that being Louisburg and Pitt. I had picked Louisburg 2nd and Pitt towards the bottom. Pitt is well improved from last year. Surry remains the only team in Region X ranked nationally as they fell to #9 in this week's poll with an overall record of 47-7, but are now 49-7 I believe. Congratulations to Louisburg on winning the regular season title and good luck to all the teams in the tournament.

Blue Ridge this year is 34-20 overall and 15-11 in the conference. Not bad for only their 2nd year in existence. The coach, Damon Towe, has worked real hard to develop some very nice facilities, and has this program on the right track. It won't be long before they are challenging year in and year out for the top spot in this region.

Good luck boys and don't forget the HIT THE BOOKS!
