So proud...gonna bust...Orioles here we come!!

Just a little warning for everyone...if this sounds like a proud father bragging a little, then you are 100% right. My son (Kris Richards?West Johnston High School/UNCG) who has worked his butt off in high school and college in an attempt to excel in a sport he loves, gave me (and the wife) a great Father's Day surprise. He didn't get picked up in the MLB draft and was hugely dissapointed, BUT he kept working with others who have been instrumental in making him better and had faith in him and told us he got a call and would be playing for the Baltimore Orioles organization. He flew out to Sarasota on Wed. The key was a present he gave me with an Orioles hat in it and the card said that they might need to be my next favorite team. Now that was Cool!!!

We probably thought the same thing most of you do about your kids...will they get on the middle school team, will they play, wil they get on JV, will they play, will they get on Varsity,will they play, will ANYONE come and look at him for a college team AND will they play. The last part seems almost like fiction to even think about but yes...Will they make it to the MLB and soon I'll probably worry about if he gets to play. I know there are plenty of kids with ability that never get an opportunity and for them, they are in my prayers. But my son got his foot in the door and is willing to do what he has to do to try and stay a while and for that....I'm darn proud.

For all those that read this and have helped him on the way, we thank you more than you know. Good luck to all the parent s that read this and think it couldn't happen to them....you never know...it just might be one of the best surprises you'll...I mean they'll... ever get!
