Are there any really good national boards for high school age softball? Baseball has hsbaseballweb.com and it is extremely helpful in that if one has questions, they will result in answers from across the country. TBR is great on the local/state/regional level, but sometimes it's nice to have the perspective of folks everywhere.

Also had a question about North American Select softball team that is to play in Holland. After searching the web, I found their website listing recruiting services, Queen of Diamonds showcases and this "Cup" tournament. A local girl is playing in this and after looking at the expense, I was wondering if this was a worthwhile deal or just another way to spend big bucks without the return of quality recruiting exposure. There are some of these in baseball where a family can spend thousands and in the end not get much for it. It would seem that to spend $3000+ for a week in Europe in January would have to have a heck of a payoff scholarship wise to be worth it. Of course if somebody has money to burn, then it would be a fun (there's that word again!) family trip... family of four, say $10,000 or two years of scholly money! That's to rich for me!

    "Cup" Info

    Gman13'sdad -
From what I understand, he takes 2-3 teams to Europe to play in this cup event and they compete against other countries. Many of the other country's teams consist of players from their Olympic teams, so it is an opportunity to play against world class players.

I would not know about college coaches attending this event; that you should ask Mr. Whiteside. In my opinion, I think you will find more exposure at events held in the good ol' USA.

The QDSS event at Winthrop is an individaul showcase event, that your daughter would have to apply and be chosen for through the Q Sport website.

    Hope this helped!

Thanks! This just kinda gave me the same "vibe" as the Baseball Factory events did when my son was in high school, and, after researching it, I found that you could end up putting in a lot money for very little exposure. At least with this softball thing your girl could have an interesting trip to the "Continent" and see the smelly frenchies etc... that is if you can handle the price tag!
