If you are a business or state you are representative of one and are wanting to promote on our site, please contact one of our moderators.

Like the rest of TBR, we dont want the front page to be a billboard for businesses but if you have something of value to our members, we would love to help out. Note: TBR Classified Forum is available and encouraged plus it reaches all TBR Members, not just us softballers!

I am pretty sure you guys and gals wouldnt appreciate us entering your place of business or employment and plaster our website all over the place, without asking!

Cheeze, we all understand that if we want to do something our own way, then we would go get our own site to do it on. These moderators take care of directing this board to keep it up to date and interesting on their own time. We respect that and are grateful. I didn't see much problem with your thread but where it rains it pours. Just wait until softball starts up and watch what happens if the competitive jabs at each others schools aren't kept in check!!
Ha Ha. Keep up the great work CF I really enjoy this board. Just wish the lurkers would chime in once in awhile and not just read!! :xyzthumbs

Would also like to see the thread which contained info about recruiting tips be left as sticky so those new to the process can see reality not what someone thinks might be right.

I agree with your view, and i really didnt see a problem with the thread either, but i rubbed someone the wrong way and perhaps we all took this a little too far. high school is around the corner, and the kids cant wait.

I don't have a problem with promoting any business that helps the players, parents or coaches. Anybody that has a business that fits in this category will be welcomed...my concern is that a business with it's first post is for solicitation. We are not a billboard...and where do you draw the line in deciding who can post their websites and who can't?

All CF is asking for is some degree of reason. Come on in...join the members of TBR softball community...contribute...and if you have something of value...we'll be glad to help you out.

...and if we don't know you...that's okay, too. Just introduce yourself. That's not asking for much. But it would be nice to develop a relationship.

We have worked hard the last 2.5 years to build the softball forum. It came about from a tremendous effort, time, passion and commitment from you guys/gals. It was not easy....

So, yes...I do have a problem when someone comes on our board and proceeds to post his/hers competing website. Maybe my recollection is cloudy, but it seems to me that it took a lot of work to develop these forums. Why shouldn't our competitors do the same?

    Info versus Promotions

I heartily agree, CFBall. This forum should be, in my view, an exchange of information and shared ideas that advances the understanding and quality of prep softball. If I logged on only to promote our Web site, services and products, I would expect you to omit those postings, or at least reprimand me for doing so. On the other hand, if I have access to information, particularly regarding recruiting matters, that can help participants (kids, parents and coaches) to get a broader perspective of those topics, I will continue to weigh in as professionally as possible. On the other hand, when we have, or see, opportunities for kids to exhibit their talent, I will feel free to communicate with everyone. Why? Because the moderators and regular participants have seen that my postings have focused on educational information, not promotional setups. That being said, I admit to submitting proud annoucements of NSR kids who accept scholarship offers. If those are deemed as promotional setups, well, I'll take my lumps.

From my vantage point, if there's a down side to this forum it would be that it occasionally turns into a chat room where some members vent and criticize kids, coaches and organizations. Debating issues is one thing. Taking full frontal shots at others is another thing altogether.

As you recall, such a thing happened nearly two years ago regarding a highly regarded program in the mountains. The postings and exchanges quickly deteriorated and were in the end shameful. Thankfully, that sort of thing has not happened since, at least not to that degree, and I for one am grateful that you've kept SOFTBALL out of the gutter. Some people seem to think that we're all sitting around the living room talking and nobody can hear what we're saying. Anyone in the country, or world for that matter, can eavesdrop on our conversations for goodness sakes!!

We sometimes forget that this is a place where kids can, and do, go to read about how adults communicate with one another. When they read our postings, they are learning from us. We can choose to sink into a war of lowbrow, flaming-arrow-shooting, grenade launching tactics, OR we can take the high road for the sake of the kids by taking on worthwhile subjects and discussing them in appropriate and mature terms.

I, for one, vote for the latter.
