I understand. My thoughts were leaning towards Robert's HS days. I can imagine for you, the State Championship had to rank up there, as well.

I would imagine the "free pass" you received in Miami will be a memorable one, too.

...and for anyone who supports UNC baseball, Chad Flack's memorable HR's to place UNC into the World Series was bigger than Bobby Thompson's "Shot heard around the world". I don't think winning the National Championship will induce the raw emotions those HR's produced.

It's like the Atlanta Braves in their 1st year of attending the WS. The support from the city and their fans was never close to being equaled again, including the year that the Braves won the WS. It was exciting, but the depth of emotions was never the same.

Which presents a different challenge for UNC. Their past successes will place extraordinary demands from their supporters; WS or Bust!! Everyone realizes that it takes a good degree of luck to reach the WS, but luck is never part of the equation when supporters place expectations on a team.

Hey 007---how did you like that topic turner?

Watching him, as an 11-year old, in his first season of baseball, cry on the mound as he was learning to pitch.

Watching him hit his first HR in the 8th grade.

Watching him go to every summer ballgame of his HS team, when he was out with a broken ankle, watching the coaches and learning the signs so he wouldn't fall behind when he played his freshman year.

Watching his fallball coach give him the gameball after a great pitching outing.

Watching him hit a HR off of Madison Bumgarner.

Listening to a well-meaning player's father ask "isn't he throwing a no-hitter?", only to have the next batter come to bat and slap down a single in the last inning..... (lesson: never, never, never speak what you are thinking while the game's still on - LOL)

Watching him practice with his college team for the first time.

Watching him keep a positive attitude and a love for the game in the face of many, many obstacles.

Watching him become a man that others like and respect, on and off the field.

Here's to more great memories to come, both on and off the field!

    That's a great

story. Everyone has HR's, no-hitter's, ect., and all are special, but something like that is truly special.
