What if ALL 4 State Championship Series were played at the USA BAseball Complex in Cary? Like the Road to Omaha, Couldnt a similiar theme develop from this?

    Just a thought...........

Yep, as i said in the other thread, this gets my vote. I would love for all the teams to play at the same complex

The only other recommendation I can think of is to play the games at.................................................................................my house. It will be a little crowded for the fans but we could get the games in and I wouldn't charge very much. But the best thing? I have the greatest concession stand in the world right in my backyard. A Fish Fry /BBQ house and all the owl fishing one could want.

The National Training Complex has four baseball fields (one Stadium Field and 3 Training Fields) with dimensions of 330 feet down the lines, 400 feet in center and all fields are maintained at Major League Baseball standards.

Training Fields each have an individual scorekeeper/announcer shelter and spectator seating for 120 people.

The Stadium Field has a press box that includes two suites (reserved for Braves) official scorer’s room, a sound room and press row. The Stadium has spectator seating for 1,754 people, including handicapped accessible seating, and additional grass seating for approximately 250 people is also available.
All fields have access to restroom facilities and concession building.

This would also allow better coverage of all the games. It has been said many times not enough press coverage. They would not have an excuse now. With all games at on complex this would make great strops coverage and the 1-A and 2-A teams would not feel like the step child.

I am a big fan of the USA Baseball Training Complex and think that if the state championships were concentrated in the way Coach Evans suggests, it would serve as an excellent site.

However, I've always had misgivings about the fundamental inequity of locating state championships in one location. The inescapable result is that those teams close by benefit by being able to maintain a normal routine while their opponent is usually forced to travel and face the disruption that travel entails. As a result, I'd prefer to see a minimum of 3 sites established on a rotating basis: one each in the Triangle, Triad, and Charlotte (or 5 sites, adding Asheville and Wilmington). At least a 3 or 5-site rotation would ensure that teams from all areas of the state would travel from time to time.

That's exactly why I originally referred to 3 sites; and that would be my strong recommendation. The only possible reason to consider the Asheville and Wilmington sites would be to prevent eastern-most and western-most schools from always having to travel.

Regardless, a plan that limits state championships to a single location necessarily advantages nearby schools. The USA Baseball site is an improvement over the current situation for the reasons already cited in this thread because the NCHSAA's current policy is to hold them in the Triangle area unless extenuating circumstances prevent it. If we're going to continue to institutionalize the inequity, we might as well concentrate the various divisions' playoffs in one site.

Use some of the local college dorms. Championship rounds Friday-Sunday. Kids and coaches required to stay at dorms. With the price of gas (diesel) today who knows what it will be next year it would be a cost saver. Also the use of the train service would be another option. Most are with in a short drive to the AM Trak station and it stops daily in Raleigh. NCHSAA could work a free pass for the team and maybe a discount rate for the fan. They could call it The "Cross State Train Series":woohoo:

Okay...but I already made an offer to use the BravesDome. And Stretchy will fly in the teams on the TBR jet. What more could you ask for?:jumprope:
