I'm not concerned about the players. I dont believe it helps or hurts them either way. My point will continue to be about the parents, grandparents etc. If you rotate it then the travel is likely to even out over time for all areas or if you 4 venues you can make it as equidistant as possible for both teams.

But if it is in the same place every year, it will be nothing new each spring and folks will know exactly where they are going.

    I certainly understand

everyones point here. Its a tough situation for sure. What about Topsail? Man is anywhere close for them? And the teams from the far western part of the state are in the same situation. I think somewhere as close to the middle of the state would be about right. I would hate to see us go back to the way it used to be - home and away at the hs teams home fields. Everyone makes valid points that should be considered. I like Dawg do not worry about the players. I do care about the fans and especially the elderly family members. I dont know what the best answer is. But like I said maybe a permanent site somewhere in the middle of the state for all four classifications.

I Wonder if Money Plays in Decision

I wonder if the NCHSAA is looking at the best way to maximize ticket sales and concessions when deciding where to put the games. Does the NCHSAA keep the money from the finals?

Intersting point from the 4A series. On the second day there were games played at 11am and 2pm and if needed 5pm and 8pm. Get this...they told everyone they needed to clear the stadium after the 2pm game and pay another $8 to see the 5pm game. Felt sorry for the E Rowan and Rocky Mount folks getting stuck for another $8. Ridiculous on behalf of the NCHSAA if you ask me. I'm sure there will be some sort of justification from them.

Add to that the fact that if you left the parking lot(after being given a ticket for proof of payment to park), you had to pay another $3.00 to park upon your return.

It was to get every dime out of you they can. They need to relize that this is High School not an MLB event. You can take this to the bank. They will in their great wisdom screw you out of a dime at every corner and act as if it is ok. I'm still trying to figure what they do anyway.

they need funds like other high schools athletics

Not familiar with NCHSAA budget but sure they have expenses just like other high school athletics. Probably have to rent the facility, pay for police, staff events and other not forgetting the payment for the officials.

Believe they provide some type of insurance for high school athletics, provide some reimbursements to teams participating and imagine other expenses exist. As I am sure you are all aware, costs to run high school athletics is not cheap.

Concerned with cost of admission ? How much did you pay for bats the past couple of years ?

To my knowledge there is no public information about the NCHSAA budget. I know there is a lot of work involved.

But I wish they could do something about the coaching stipends. The coaches get paid pennies for all the work they put into their sport. The decisions made across the country of what and how to pay coaches is a smorgasboard of salaries.

I certainly believe the AD of the NCHSAA deserves a competitive salary, but it seems that his over $180,000 a year salary is a bit out of synch in relation to the HS coaches.

Do they publish their revenues and expeses? You seem to have an answer for everything else. And by the way its the principle of the issue at play here not the act of paying an addl $8.
