While there is a lull in the playoff action, I thought I would share something. What do you think?

    Play the Game

Baseball has been around a lot longer than you have.

Baseball will be around a lot longer than you will.

Respect the game. Love the game.

    It’s not about you.

Great players don’t make the Game. The Game makes great players.

Take third from first on a single to right.

Don’t show up your opponent, and never show up a teammate.

If you are an outfielder, be tired after a game because you were always backing up the play.

Appreciate the sacrifice bunt and what it means.

Know when to take a pitch.

Watch the other team take infield, but don’t be awed. Look for weaknesses.

Always watch and study. Your opponent will tell you something you need to know.

Take the extra base by reading the ball in the dirt.

Pitchers, always cover first on anything to the right side.

Prepare hard so the game comes more easily.

You don’t have to be a cheerleader on the bench. But you can never put yourself above the team.

Be a top step kind of teammate.

Be excited about the new team hats.

Relish the opportunity to play on a “sweet” field.

Appreciate the cheers as well as the heckles – both expressions of passion for the game.

Play with emotion but never let your emotions play you.

Earn your teammates’ respect by your performance and attitude.

Thanks, Braves. I understand that your son is considering L-R? They don't get much better than Coach Pait. I know the Tarletons are excited about the coming year.

:trophy: Thanks for sharing that Red Bear. Here is one written by Nick Dixon that I have always passed along to my son's team mates....

    ONE SWING

…One SWING does not make an AT-BAT and

……One AT-BAT does not make an INNING and

………One INNING does not make a GAME and

…………One GAME does not make a WEEK and

……………One WEEK does not make a SEASON and

………………One SEASON does not make a CAREER and

…………………One CAREER does not make a LIFE!

We should keep the significance of one error, one strikeout, or one baseball game in perspective. We should not “judge” the puzzle by looking at or focusing on a single piece. Baseball is always a “work in progress”. There has never been nor will there be the perfect player or perfect team.
