    introduction

I have enjoyed both rec and travel ball with my 14 y/o DD, We live in a rural area so when we travel we really TRAVEL. HAve discovered that Softball is its own community and can be loads of fun, but very tense and scary.. specially for me. DD is a pitcher and outfielder, can play shortstop if she has too. She is a pretty new pitcher (2yrs) throws a pretty good fastball,l and some nice off speed pitches. SInce she is not super fast she is trying to learn how to spot her pitches better. Most importantly she has fun. I am looking forward to reading the forum and learning more about this great game.

    Welcome to TBR.

I love your screen name as I too am the father of a pitcher. She is a senior in college now (still pitching) but I remember the days of sore shins, not to mention other areas. Where are you from? Your insite about fastpitch being its own community, fun, tense and scary. tells me you have been around some. Im looking forward to having you as a TBR family member and hope to see you at a field some day. Its always fun to put a face to a name on here.
Tell your DD to keep working HARD Speed is good but as you mentioned Its more about Location and Movement. Your on the right track. What HS does (will) your DD attend?

DD will play for Butler HS next year, and hope fully get plenty of playing time. Currently plays for TB team.. not alot of pitching time, but hopefully will learn more and continue to get better. There are a bunch of really skilled pitchers out there that have obviously worked very hard to learn the craft. Tough for a kid that is really just recently getting serious about it, but has lots of desire and perseverence. No doubt my DD will eventually get there though. By the way, I am the Mom, I now just warm her up cause I am not fast enough to get the heck outta the way.. I make the hub catch her now.. HAHAHA

dawgfan, mine have just healed in the last 2 years...........great screename!

Sounds like you and DD are heading in the right direction so contiune to work in the so called "offseason". I find this is where most develop quickly and show the most improvement without all the issues that TB brings to our Younger ones. Encourage her to work out a daily schedule of running/walking, weight training, lessons, times with dad and others to pitch will help her understand the importance of self-discipline and what it takes at each of her next few levels of play. I teach 9-18 yr old in the craft of pitch(love that..) and find its common with your DD's age group.
Again, welcome and we hope you find this Softball Forum worthy of you passing it along to friends and family! We provide a clean environment for our young posters as well as us older folks to post, read and keep abreast on whats happening in area(s) softball!
Good luck with her workouts and i can loan you some shinguards and equipment so you can enjoy catching if you like...... ;)
