2 excellent teams. Caldwell playing at home would probably get the nod but McDowell has been playing real strong. LOL, is that wishy-washy enough?

I almost completely agree with everything you just about said there except for a few things... its all clear as mud.

If the rotations hold true, it would be Reid or Guerra vs Taylor. South Caldwell hit decently well off Taylor when they played the war at Marion last year which McDowell won with an infield single with 2 outs in extra innings if memory serves.

I know this is only the start of week 3 of conference play, but the rest of NW4A is flirting with disaster is some team doesn't slow down South Caldwell. They are already one game up on second place and everyone is beating up eachother.

McDowell may just be the team to do it. They hit the ball well and Taylor has looked awesome.

One thing while I am thinking about it. I would love for fans/members of the teams to post a scheduled starter for Tuesdays and Fridays. Thus far it looks like Reid, Payne, Taylor, Nigro, and Yoder generally pitch for their respective teams on Tuesdays with Freedom and Reynolds unknown. Am I correct?

i like how you think mcdowell and south caldwell are the two teams to beat. achs lost to north forsyth friday 3-2, and north pitched 2 d-1 pitchers while achs pitched there #4 pitcher. Jordan threw a great game, but had one bad inning. kinnard will pitch today against freedom. south is very strong, and these next two weeks will be a very tough road for all 3 teams.

    South/McDowell Score

The Spartans continued there winning ways thanx to the bat of Josh Bentley. Bentley had 2 Hr's and 5 rbi's for the Spartans. The Spartans had only four hits. Reid picked up the victory for the Spartans throwing a complete game giving up 7 hits and striking out 13. Williams was the tough luck loser for McDowell only giving up 4 hits. The Spartans improve to 12-0 on the year and 4-0 in the NW4A.

    WP-Reid (5-0)
    LP- Williams

    Hrs- Bentley-2 (6)

    whs vs eb

Watauga 3 vs East Burke 0
Chris Nigro goes the distance. THrew a 2 hitter, one walk, and struck out 16, actually struck out the side 4 times.
    Nigro and thompson RBI singles.

Never once did I imply that AC is not a great team. But they are certainly more hittable when Payne is not on the mound.

However what I did say was someone needs to knock off South Caldwell soon or there is going to be too much distance between first and the rest of the pack.

If memory serves, South is 4-0. AC is 3-1 (lost to McDowell, right?) are the only two with less than two losses. And only 2 teams make the playoffs in the NW4A (which by the way is insane!) I would take AC, SCHS, Freedom and right now Watauga (who is playing well right now)and feel pretty good about all of those teams doing some damage in the Playoffs.

ACHS's first 2 pitchers have both been throwing the ball extremely well (Payne,Hollifield) so if anyone thinks that Payne is the only pitcher that can beat Caldwell then that is far from the truth. Caldwell has some good pitching, but I think ACHS is deeper and has better starters. Hefner and Kinniard both can beat anyone on any given day, they both recently proved that (Hefner lost 3-2 to North Forsyth and he pitched great, and Kinniard beat Freedom).
