South Granville defeats Northwood 5-1 to claim the number 1 seed from the Carolina 12 Conference. SG struck first with a 2 run home run in the first by David Paff. SG scored another in the second to go up 3-0. NW scored in the bottom of the sixth and looked like they were going to have another one of their big innings with runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. However, a pop fly and a double play ends the inning. SG adds two more in the top of the 7th. SG gets NW 3 up and 3 down in the bottom of the 7th to secure the win.

Matt Fuhr earns his 10th win of the season. Zack Cooper pitched two innings of relief to get the save. Big hits by Houston Anderson, Shawn Montrene, Paff and Cooper.

Congratulations to Coach Kevin Ferrell for his 300 career win.

If this was a facebook status i would like it.....everything in there was part of just a great, great baseball game between two teams as solid as you'll see from top to bottom in the pitching staff and in the batting order....last Tuesday the team that made fewer mistakes won in regular season meeting two to set up tonight's game, and again the team that made fewer mistakes gets the W....critical crucial gihugic error in top 7th to leave the door open for those 2 insurance runs, 5-1 felt way different in bottom 7 than 3-1 would have.
