    Wednesday, 4/21 @ Watauga
South Meck 12 vs. Watauga 2 in 5 innings
    WP: Kevin Spain
    LP: Tyler Greene

The South Meck vs. Watauga game starting out very closely and solid with South and Watauga both scoring 2 runs in the first inning and then South scoring 1 run in the 2nd inning. Then it was pretty solid, no errors, and a pitcher's game until the 5th inning when South exploded with 8 runs in the 5th! And, of course, South scored one more run in an inning but I can't remember which inning now!

South pitched Spain for 3 innings, Worrell for 2 innings, and then Matt Layman closed out the 5th inning. The Pioneers tried several other of their pitchers as well but with no benefit to Watauga once the Sabres starting hitting.

Who is Watauga's ace pitcher?

Jonathan(sp) Greene....who happens to be one of the best catchers in the State. Impact Baseball wrote a very positive piece on Greene.

Oh yes, I remember that now from an Impact Baseball Region 7 report back in the summer.

Yes..thanks for reminding me about that article, but I was referring to the one Andy did on the Grimsley Hot Stove tourney. Watauga is extremely talented, but extremely young this year. Pete Hardee and his team will be back battling for the top next year.

    WHS Young?

:nono: Actually WHS has 12 seniors. All of their starters are seniors except a freshman at SS. NEXT YEAR they will be really young, with only 4 seniors in the entire program.

South Caldwell is the young team this year up in the NW4A. They will be a force in that conference next season.
