I haven't heard too much about these guys. Does anybody know what kind of team they are and who their top players are? East Rowan travels to South Point on Thursday for the first game of the best of three series.

    Homefield Advantage

I think when it comes down to two teams that are both number 1 seeds. They should go by who has the better record and if the teams have an identical record. Then they should flip a coin. I don't necessarily like that conference seeding priority. The NPC doesn't have priority over anyone.

It's hard to say who will go for East. Corbin Shive came in relief on Tuesday but I could see him pitching (Shive is a better starter than releiver). Other possible starters would be Cody Laws, Trey Holmes, or Kent Basinger. Holmes and Basinger both haven't pitched in a while for different reasons; nagging injuries.

East has everyone available except for Roland. Pretty sure Shive will get the call in game one; If not look for Holmes and Shive in game 2.

    Some info

South Point's best player and team leader is Chris Lane. Lane is a senior CF who is going to Lenoir Rhyne next year to play baseball and possibly football. He is however, nursing a sprained ankle that limited him to DH duties Tuesday night.

East Rowan will probably face South Point's ace on the mound, Zach Horne, in game 1. Horne is a LHP who is a senoir that will be playing at Belmont Abbey next year. He throws in the low 80's around the same velocity as lefthanders who have given East some problems this year.

South Point's other two main pitchers are sophmores, Weston Lawing (pitch Tuesday) and Chris Harkey.

South Point's lineup is young, but so is East's . Counting a DH they usually start 3 Seniors, 5 Sophomores, and 2 Freshman. So far, the young line-up has held up well in the playoffs as they have not cracked under pressure in 3 very close games.

I think a major factor is that South Point gets this first game at home. It is a big difference playing in Belmont than coming to Staton Field's hostile environment with a young team for game 1. Whoever pulls out game 1, obviously has a large advantage going the rest of the way.

    Westboy, that's all I've got.

    East Rowan Pitching Rotation

It will be Corbin Shive tomorrow, and if East wins Kent Basinger on Friday. If they lose, Justin Roland on Friday.

    playing at home overrated sometimes...

Oftentimes, taking your team on the road can actually help get your players more focused and they seem to play better, maybe because they will feel like they are outnumbered and must band together, whatever the reason it happens more times than not. Even tho staying at home and keeping your routine may seem like an advantage, how many times have you seen the home team come out flat?

If it is REALLY A BIG GAME, I have never minded hitting the road because I have just seen that extra focus on the road so many times. Maybe the teams I am referring to has just been fortunate, but it happens.

Btw, I'd expect to see Shive tonight too.
